The best Buzz but still room for improvement May 14, 2007 I. Hughes 43 out of 43 found this review helpful
Firstly I would like to confirm that this is the best Buzz game for the allround player. It combines both music, movie and general knowledge questions. The scoring system has been improved and there is also a stats summary such as % of right answers and fastest player. There are a number of additional characters to choose from but the originals still remain the best (although the old lady does get a few laughs!) The format has been slightly tweaked, there are a few new rounds such as pie fight (similar to hitman) and a select a category round which is a good as each person gets to choose a topic (TV, film, music, sport etc) My main reason for buying the game was for 8 player action. This was very dissappointing on the Big Quiz version as you could not play a whole standard game. This has been partly corrected for this installment but it is by no means perfect. The 8 player standard game does not include all types of rounds and the end of the quiz is such an anti climax. All points gained in previous rounds are transferred into lives for a pie fight round which is essentially a game of hitman. The end result is that the person who was winning gets 4 lives whilst say the worst player gets 2 lives. This then results in the guy with 4 lives being singled out by everyone and elliminated first. Also this final round is more focused on speed as the first to get the answer right gets to eliminate someone else. This tends to result in people who dont know the answer guessing really quickly and getting questions righta and elliminating people who know the answer. As a 1-4 player game this game is great and I recommend it. If you are after the 5-8 player game that the original should have been then you may be dissapointed.
A Much Improved Version Of Quiz Night! October 24, 2007 S. Smith (UK) 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
I thoroughly enjoyed Buzz the music quiz and set out slowly to get the set. So far (Hollywood is on its way) this one is my favourite! 8 players can play along now which is great and its so easy to show everyone what you do and how to do it - the Buzzers are so easy to use everyone can do it. The rounds themselves are much improved. I particularly enjoyed the round in which you pick a country and answer a question on it and the winner chooses the next country. Also getting a pie in your face is the oldest trick in the book but still provides entertainment when your in a large group. The new final round "The Final Countdown" though may be a bit too random. It basically converts all your points until then to time and then your time ebbs away while you answer the questions in the round. If your the first one to get it right though you gain time and I found on 2 player games it barely matters what you did on the other rounds as this round just makes it so topsy turvy. Some may say its a good thing but I've still got my jury out on that. A good tip though is to pop your memory card in while you play and that generally stops repeat questions coming up every so often although I have to say I've not had that many so far. This is my favourite Buzz to date so if you're looking for the best quiz game of general knowledge then definitely go for this one. (500 points for me please!)
Played this in Maths Interhouse! May 22, 2007 Lily C.C (Cambridge, England) 5 out of 24 found this review helpful
I was pleasantly surprised to find out that we were going to be playing Buzz! in the school interhouse. Numbers were picked at random and three were picked from each house to battle it out for the most points! A great and fun way to learn!
