Great game but big, widespread, problem with the DVD May 31, 2006 Bocklin (Berlin) 35 out of 38 found this review helpful
Singstar Rock (UK version) is a great product, in the tradition of other Singstars. The song selection is varied and nicely Rock. Unfortunately a problem with the DVD makes *some* songs (e.g. Cardigans or Snow Patrol) systematically crash on *some* Playstations. Websites and forums about this problem are multiplying and Sony will hopefully do something about it. In the meantime be careful of buying this product if your Playstation is a SCPH-70004 or SCPH-30004. Other models could also be affected, but these two have been confirmed. Otherwise great game and a lot of fun!
The greatest ps2 game ever! May 17, 2006 Ms. Julie M. Lockwood 19 out of 21 found this review helpful
This is an absolute must for all ages! One of my friends originally bought singstar and i laughed when she said it was an excellent game. I'm not a ps2 fan at all, so was not convinced of this at first. After going to hers one night after sinking a few beers she put it on and well i can honestly say i am addicted. She should be earning royalties lol. Every person who has since been to hers and had a go has been out and bought singstar and all the discs that go with it. Its ace for a sat night in when you havent got the money to go out, just grab a few beers and get singing! My kids love it to, we usually fight over the microphones! Just wish there was a way of picking which songs you want on the cds. But i would defintaly recommend buying this
Tremendously Good Fun October 16, 2006 J Waumsley (Hertford, England) 18 out of 19 found this review helpful
This, along with the other titles in the Singstar series, is a great game. Reading the other reviews, you can see that most of the poor ratings are complaining about the selection of songs - well if you're on Amazon already, there's a song list readily available, and there is also one on the back of the case, so it seems pointless to buy a game knowing what songs are on it, and then complain afterwards - for those unfamiliar with the Singstar game engine, then this is a solid introduction, with a good variety in the difficulty of songs; for those familiar, then it just comes down to whether you like the songs themselves. But for people (like me) who enjoy this sort of music, it's a solid addition to the series, highly recommended.
An opportunity missed May 10, 2006 Sam (Leeds, England) 11 out of 16 found this review helpful
I'm a HUUUUGE fan of Singstar. I have the original, party and 80s versions. I passed on the popworld edition because I didn't think the selection of songs was anywhere near as good. This edition is okay I suppose except I have found a problem with it - The songs just aren't very enjoyable. The Queen song (Don't Stop Me Now) is very confusing... in solo mode you are marked on both backing and lead vocals! It's practically impossible! I agree with another review here that says this edition is sadly lacking in 'classic' rock songs (e.g. Bon Jovi Living On A Prayer???, Gun's N Roses Sweet Child O Mine???, The Eagles Hotel California??? All Right Now by Free??? ) Singstar have opted for a modern mix of Indie and Soft Rock with this edition. I reckon they've missed out here since an Indie version could have been put out with a mix of 90's classic Brit Pop and modern day Indie after a more fuller and 'proper' Rock edition. It's tricky to get the right blend of tunes. Singstar have done well in the previous editions but I just feel they've not quite got it right here.
Definately Maybe August 5, 2006 Mr. S. Belcher (England) 11 out of 35 found this review helpful
I'm sorry to say that this is a big disappointment. When you call a product Singstar Rocks it should, not just limp along. Where are the great rock legends? Where are ACDC, where is Sabbath? What no Back in Black? what no Walk This Way? What no Paradise City? The majority of tracks would barely qualify for the description of rock. Without these sort of tracks when it comes to Jo Wiley's quiz Rocked or Sucked, Singstar leave only one answer. There may be the odd rock track but I was looking forward to classic rock songs and modern hits combined. I longed to sing Breaking the Law and then follow it up with a bit of Green Day. There are some good songs on here like Paint it Black but not enough rock and too much filler. Overall to paraphrase Oasis Singstar Definately Rocks Maybe.
