Ski Racing 2005 April 14, 2005 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Having played numerous & various PS2 sports games this has to be one of the best so far. If you have a competitive nature you are bound to find this a buzz! The plus to the game:-Graphics are pretty good although crashing your skier is less convincing! From immediate start up the game is FAST and the more experience points your dude gets the faster and more break neck (literally) you can race. Although skier control is pretty basic, it is easy to crash off the course! There are several disciplins from speed of downhill to carving up the mountains on slalom. Each requiring different techniques to win, (although the medal at the end is a bit naff)! Get enough points you open up new stages, which have increasingly more difficult courses to master! Negatives about the game:- A negative side to this game is there is nobody else to watch making mistakes before you (names of other skiers you're against only appear on a list to beat). Save the replays and watch your mates crashing their skier (rather limiting!). Seems to require a chunk of memory to store data. Controls are a bit basic, but hurtling at 160kl an hour perhaps they need to be basic! If you are content at throwing yourself down a mountain in the wisdom that it won't hurt when you crash...and you find it compulsive to strive to get the fastest record, then the chances are you will enjoy this game! Wack up the volume, hear the wind whistle past you, steady yourself on your skis and ENJOY
You can't beat this game for value July 3, 2005 Ms. R. Atyeo (Stockport) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Well after much contemplation as the weather I should buy this game I finaly took the plunge, and with it costing less than a tenner I thought I couldn't go wrong. I was correct with that thought as this is an excellent game and I would have been impressed with this game had it been full price. The action is excellent and steers away from the more arcade type sports game which is exactly what I wanted. There are three types of skier that you can create and these are, Technical, Mixed and Speed. Each type of skier is suited to different course types and using the correct skier type realy makes a difference to your times. It's a very challenging game that rewards the patient and trying trim your times to rise in the ranks makes for addictive playing, it's definately a 'One More Go' type of game. I would recomend it to anyone who likes a challenge and likes to relax at the same time, no thumping music, just the sound of the wind as it whistles past at speeds of up to 140+ kph and the sound of the crowds cheering you on. Go on, but this game as you can't go wrong as it's less than 10 and a worthy addition to any sports game fans collection.
