Amazon.co.uk Review EA's PGA Tour series has been going for the best part of a decade now, most recently with the endorsement of the world renowned Tiger Woods. The 2004 version includes seven new courses, five new professional golfers (including Justin Rose, John Daly and Australian Adam Scott) and a new season mode that challenges you to obtain sponsorships from real golf-equipment manufacturers throughout your career and drive to surpass Tiger Woods himself as number one on the overall money list. One of the most interesting new features is the Create-A-Golfer option, which lets you design a golfer that looks just like you or, if you so desire, a grotesquely deformed mockery of your least favourite celebrity--the choice is yours. If you do well in the main game you can even win new clothes and accessories for your virtual golfer to wear while competing in a variety of new modes, including World Tour, Long Drive Shootout, Best Ball, Alternate Shot, Stableford Scoring and Battle Golf. Whichever aspect of the game you're most interested in, this is the most realistic golf game ever made--until next year anyway. --David Jenkins

Well, what can I say, apart from the fact that it's a shame we have to wait another 2 months for this title to be released! This game looks like it has THE LOT - 19 courses including five new PGA courses and two new fantasy courses, Detailed Career mode - where you can play the brand new 52-week PGA Tour and obtain sponsorships along the way, World Tour mode replaces Tiger Challenge for a more varied experience, Extra gameplay modes include Long Drive Shootout, Best Ball, alternate shot, Stableford scoring, and Battle Golf (you can choose any 1 club to remove from your oponents bag to make things more challenging for them......note, they can do the same to you as well), Detailed Create-a-Golfer mode, Pro Shop gives you the opportunity to buy sponsored apparel, equipment, and even special animation sequences, More players - 15 PGA pros and 12 original players such as "The Don", Real-time PGA Tour events according to consoles internal clocks, EA Sports Bio - memory card tracking system rates you based on all of your EA Sports title performances and Online play (PlayStation 2 only). The create-a-golfer feature is definately the thing EA have pushed and perfected in this title. EA gives players total control over a huge number of body morphing variables, including everything from skin tone to jaw size. If you don't want to spend 20 minutes creating yourself, just use the randomiser and eventually you'll find something you like. Gamers will also have access to a huge Pro Shop. In the Pro Shop you'll be able to purchase sponsored apparel. There are over 115 shirts, tons of shoes, glasses, and even headbands. EA says there are thousands of items for gamers to buy with the money they've earned playing the single and multiplayer modes. As far as what exact brands we can expect, a company representative commented, "We have all the major brand players you'd expect to see in a golf game." So, if you haven't already made up your mind about whether you should pre-order this title or not, allow me to do so for you.....PRE-ORDER THIS GAME NOW!!

I have all of the Tiger Woods PGA Tour series from 2001 - 2004. 2001 was just an average hard to master golf game. 2002 was a revolution. New swing controls made it so much better with a little practice, and the graphics were amazing for the time. 2003 and 2004 have been the same game with improvements on graphics, added golfers, courses, game modes and a few bits here and there. The biggest disappointment for me was that the multi-player modes are very restricted in 2004. You can't play a tournament in two player mode at all, restricting you to single round games with your friends. This is, however, a very good game indeed. The evolutions of Tiger Woods PGA Tour have added new features with every new release. This is no exception and has a bundle of play modes to keep you amused for hours (mostly single player). Some great new courses including the return of Tiger's Dream 18 from "2002" as Penguin Falls, though sadly still no return of Copperhead Canyon. New play modes have been added, such as Battle Golf which lets you take clubs away from your opponent with each hole win. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004 is, without doubt, the very best single player golf simulation game available for your money. If, like me, you prefer to play multiplayer stick to 2003 and hope that the 2005 version is more multiplayer friendly.

Tiger Woods 2004 is a good game but it just lacks that extra touches that would make it a great game. The major disapointment for me was that you cannot play online. With the PS2 network adaptor out already there is no reason why it wouldnt be possible to do it as you can already play other games online( what makes it even worse is they can play it in america). Apart from this the game is awesome. There are many great new modes such as create- a - golfer, pga tour ( where you take your golfer through a host of tournaments in a 10 year career), new games such as Stableford, betterball, and battle golf, and also mini games such as longest drive. Probablly the best new feature is the Pro-shop, where you can spend your hard earned cash on items such as new clubs, balls, shoes, hats, and acessories for your golfer. Most major brands are there, Nike, Adidas, Talyormade, Cleveland, Maxfli, Ping, but its just a shame others such as Titleist, footjoy, and mizuno didnt make an appearance. Apart from new modes there are also a few new golfers and courses. New golfers include: Justin Rose, John Daly, Retief Goosen, Charles Howell 3 and a few other made up ones. Again i think it a shame that there werent more real golfers, such as the likes of Ernie Els, Phil Mikelson and Darren Clarke. If you really wanted to you could create them in create-a-golfer but it just isnt the same. There are some fantastic new courses available such as Bethpage black and Pinehurst no2, but again i would have liked see other new ones. These are only slight niggles which doesnt take away any enjoyment from the game. It is a fantastic game and i suggest you buy it right this minute if you havent already. Its just a real shame there is no online mode.... oh well never mind... theres always 2005

this new golf game is the best since tiger woods 2003. there are new mini games which are great and the championship mode is also superb. this game has hours of fun in it and the graphics are even better. the courses are much more realistic and the players are too. microsoft have made a wonderful golf game and i hope they continue this for next year. tiger woods 2004 is brilliant and is one of the best games for the 2004 season.

I've only had this game a few days now but am highly addicted. I don't know what it is about golf games that interests me. I can't play for toffee, and if i try and watch it i get bored and turn over to watch songs of praise. But playing it as a video game is surprisingly addictive. Perhaps this is due to every time i wack the ball 300 or so yards, i don't have to go and search for a bleeding little white ball. Anyway, back to the point. This game is brill and the point i am trying to make is that you don't have to be an extreme golf fan to enjoy. Get your noel edmonds jersy and knee high sock on and tee off.....
