Amazon.co.uk Review Just as some actors never made the jump from the silent screen to talkies, so too Sonic the Hedgehog has never really seemed at home in 3-D. Sonic Heroes, though, is the best attempt yet to simulate the fast, uncomplicated thrills of the 2-D Mega Drive days on this generation's shiny new consoles. Sonic Heroes is basically the action segments from Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 stripped of all the insanely dull pseudo RPG elements but unfortunately still containing far too much storyline and the largest and least interesting host of secondary characters ever seen in gaming. Sonic Heroes also inherits many of the older titles' camera and control problems, although here they are now occasional rather than constant irritations. All this may seem as if it's painting a rather poor picture of the game, but despite all its problems Sonic Heroes is actually a lot of fun. Its main gimmick is that you actually control three characters at a time, with each one having a special ability of either speed, flight or the ability to smash through blocks. Thankfully this doesn't overcomplicate the controls and instead adds a modicum of depth to the otherwise non-stop running-'n'-jumping action. You still occasionally get the feeling that the game is trying too hard to fit a round peg in a square hole, but on balance more of it works than doesn't, and it's certainly the best Sonic title since the Mega Drive era. --David Jenkins

Sonic Heroes February 20, 2005 Calum Fairweather (Huntly, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, United Kingdom) 31 out of 36 found this review helpful
Sonic the Hedgehog is back, and now, he's on PS2 and much more realistic and exciting than way back in the day. Sonic Heroes is for any Sonic fan who loves flitting at high speed, and destroying enemies, I seem so young and youthful talking about a kiddies game, but Sonic the Hedgehog, Knuckles and Tails are back and they're going to be around for a long time to come. The truth that Sonic Heroes so cool and spellbounding is that the makers of this, SEGA, have crafted and concocted this very well, the gameplay is unstoppable and furious, the graphics are fantastic and very real (and when i say real, I mean TOTALLY REAL!). You can still do the things that you could've done on your MegaDrive. Here are some of the main features of what you can try or in other words, DO. - Manoeuvre a team of 3 Sonic characters through massive levels to overcome the evil Dr. Robotnik (I like destroying evil guys like Dr. Robotnik). - Choose from 4 teams with a total of 12 Sonic characters (Team Sonic is my favourite, it's the only team I dare try playing as, Team Dark, Team Rose and Team Chaotix). -Each character has it's own strengths and weaknesses (Tails is the only one who can fly, that all I know! Knuckles and Sonic the Hedgehog are likely but different in their limitations and appearances). -Control 3 characters at once for a whole gaming experience (Now that's something I have not done before, now that's total UNEXPERIENCED). For 1 to 2 players (Means you can play 2 players if you have 2 controllers). Sonic the Hedgehog has made a profound influence on video gamers with his historic multi-platform debut. This is such a great adventure and must be owned by all Sonic fans, and (possibly) R&C fans, they are similar and alike. BUY THIS GAME NOW, ONLY THE BEST-SELLING GAMES MAKE IT TOWARDS PLATINUM! This game rocks! January 1, 2007 crazykat (staffordshire) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Bought on offer at Asda. Never thought about buying it since last year, though im certainly glad that i bought it now! I am not a game collector as i usually get bored of them really quickly. However this, it's just amazing! I put it on and action started, a fun action/adventure game, fun not just for sonic fans. I loved the older sonic games, but this is just above average! Buy this, i guarantee you will love it!
It's Okay January 11, 2007 Rach C (England) The game has excellent graphics and it is very fun, especially when you are racing through each imaginative level. You don't just play Sonic, Knuckles and tails. You can choose between four teams which each start with it's own individual storyline. The controls are a little complicated atfirst but once they're easy to get a hang of. Here's the bad points:when you slip up one a level, you go quite a way back and you loose some of the overall level points, also the game is very fast in parts.
Sonic's untimely demise! August 4, 2007 Mr. P. D. Wragg 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This game is just too poor for words. Why oh why did i let myself buy this knowing that most original classic platform games churned into 3D animation never work but to make money for their cash hungry makers! The original sonic games on the early 16 bit consoles were absolute classics and should have been left that way. This game destroys the game play massively in replacement for the fancier graphics the newer consoles offer. Everything about it is worse - who wants decent graphics when you can't control the character or even see it at all! This game did nothing but anger me and is one to be avoided if you don't want to see something so good turn just plain ugly!
(His name's Dr. Robotnic not Dr. Eggman)...Shut up this is my review. Why do you always do this when I write a review. GUN!!! October 13, 2007 Pmgoss (UK) Join Sonic as he does things. If you remember the old and addictive ones...there actually free on the internet and her name is Miss Grokee. But anyway this game involves you controlling three people in one team and each has their own story mode even though the levels are EXACTLY the same. The teams are: Team Sonic (Yay!), Team Shadow (Yay!), Team Rose (What are you doing?) and Team Chaotix (Tee hee cheese). Each person in your team has a specific speciality which are Speed, Flying, and Power. Not as addictve as the older ones but worth a try. PS I like pie (PPS this was not written by the person who wrote the other reviews. This was written by my younger brother Seoung Mina.)
