Lightsaber fun with a hint of the dark side May 6, 2005 Neoico 48 out of 54 found this review helpful
Players of the lord of the rings, the two towers or return of the king will easily recognise the game play. A mixture of button bashing and skill assignment between levels; note this is not a bad thing. The gameplay is fast and furious and lots of fun as you slash and use your force powers to make your way through the game. You play as either Obi-wan or Anakin and each character has a definite play style. This is a very enjoyable game, game play is often fast and furious and the graphics and engine smooth even when surrounded by dozens of enemies. The likeness are good and while not the real actors the voices are by no means cheesy, be warned though the game is true to the film and you will discover the plot if you play this. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED Over all a fine game, while criminally short there are several bonus missions to be unlocked which does give it a slightly longer life. A must have for fans and a fine addition to any action gamers collection.
The force is strong with this one!! May 6, 2005 Richard Sutherland 25 out of 31 found this review helpful
I got this game today and have been playing it most of the day. The graphics are AMAZING, and the duels are extraordinary. With delightful graphics and extra smooth gameplay you get entranced in the game and never want to turn it off. You can play as Anakin and unleash his awesome power and truly become the chosen one. (But is he the chosen one for Light or Dark?) With Obi-wan you can defend the light and become a master of the force. The levels are excellent because of new droids, who are more than a match for the jedi. The gameplay follows the book nearly word for word, and most StarWars fans will fall in love with this game. The book is good, but I think the game is better. With little flashes of scenes from the film it makes even more excited. If you are a fan buy this game it won't dissapoint. AMAZING!!!!
Great but too short May 8, 2005 25 out of 27 found this review helpful
I saw this game advertised and went straight out to the shop to get it, and I wasn't too disappointed. The game has great graphics and amazing gameplay, but I was not too happy about the length of the game - there are only 17 levels, which are pretty easy even on hard mode. Although the story is short, the game's durability is increased slighty by the unlockable two player missions and one player bonus missions. However, there are not many of these and they get repetitive. A good feature though is the two player vs mode where players can have one on one lightsabre duels, or player one can practice their lightsaber skills against a hand picked CPU opponent. There are also a wide range of selectable characters in vs mode - most of the opponents with lightsabres met in the story are in there, including two special characters... I managed to complete the story mode in about two days, but it is definitely a worthwhile buy if you're not on you're PS2 as much as me! Overall, the game is great, but I feel that Lucas Arts could have done more with the story mode, but the extras make up for it.
BEST STARWARS GAME YET! May 12, 2005 20 out of 22 found this review helpful
Ever since i heard it was coming out i wanted it. The graphics are great, the moves incredibly fluent and the duels fantastic. One of the best features is the intricate use of the force. The game is however a bit short on the story mode (and easy even on hard) but it is still enjoyable and the multiplayer levels and bonus levels (both featuring special characters) do add to the duration of the game. By far the best part is the dueling mode. All in all a fantastic game. You have to buy it!
A good effort May 17, 2005 Pete (Wirral, Merseyside) 16 out of 19 found this review helpful
I bought this game on Sunday afternoon, played it for a couple of hours and got stuck. Played it again Monday night and completed it. Simple. Not much to the game really, hack and slash your way through 16 levels based on the new movie. Best thing about it are the clips of the movie between levels, gives you a sneak preview of what will happen in the film. Not a bad game if your not interested in doing anything but fighting and if it wasn't Star Wars or didn't have the cutscenes then I wouldn't recommend it. As it is though, I would recommend it to the younger players who might see it of more of a challenge. It's not a bad game as the action is fast and only stops when the level is done, but there is a lack of substance. Maybe the odd - collect this to open that - type of thing might have been nice. Oh, another nice touch is the mulitplayer games, either fight till the death mini level games or a one on one fight, unlocking new characters and levels to play as you go along in the single player missions. It reminds me of The Lord Of The Rings game, which was a lot better by the way. hope this helps anyway.
