Amazon.co.uk Review Using the name GoldenEye for this latest 007 game could be one of the most ill-advised choices in marketing history, since it beggars all sorts of unkind comparisons to Rare's seminal N64 title, which to this day remains one of the best games ever made. The choice of name is all the more puzzling because the game has nothing to do with the film or, save the first person perspective, Rare's magnum opus. In fact the rather unlikely reasoning behind everything is that you are an evil ex-MI6 agent who after a fight with Dr No is given an, err
golden eye by Auric Goldfinger. The game's premise is such that all of Bond's greatest bad guys are still alive and caught up in a sort of underworld civil war, in which your character seeks to be the real beneficiary. Ignoring such nonsense though, and looking purely at the game, the AI seems quite good and the replacement of Everything or Nothing's "Bond Moments" with scripted "Death Trap" sequences is fairly amusing. Unfortunately though the developers seem to have forgotten that the original game was as much lauded (at least a year before Thief or Metal Gear Solid) for its stealth gameplay as much for its shooting and this element seems total absent from Rogue Agent. The multiplayer is also unconvincing with no radar and rather sprawling level design. It might turn out all right when it's finished but at the end of the day this is no GoldenEye. -- David Jenkins

Looks cool to me July 19, 2004 Kevin Gilmour (Glasgow, Scotland) 16 out of 34 found this review helpful
Don't be fooled by other reviews or previews here, check out the trailers on goldeneye.ea.com. the game itself looks like an awesome soup up from the N64 game and while the story is nothing to do with the previous GoldenEye or the movie it is still a GoldenEye game, a first person shooter. I really like Everything or Nothing and its behind Bond view but GoldenEye: Rogue Agent looks stunning!Hopefully it will be as intense as the N64 game where you will want to complete game on all dificulty levels and unlock all secrets so that your life as Bond will once again be complete!

Not so much a review but just so people who want to buy this know, its nothing to do with the amazing Goldeneye on the N64, totally different crew etc. Expect it to be much along the lines of the recent 007 game 'Everything Or Nothing' game. Not saying it wont be a good game, just dont be fooled into thinking its a sequel/prequel/remake etc.

Hmmm, where to begin! This appears to be a Christmas, James Bond cash in, trying to capture fond memories of the old Nintendo 64's Goldeneye. It fails miserably. A really bad storyline (none really), average graphics and no online play, though it does offer multiplayer action for up to 4. You need a really big telly for that! Save your money for a Bond DVD as you will get more repeat value. After one level of Rogue Agent, you'll understand why there was really only ever one 00 agent. This game is the suckiest game of all time suckiest games and another good lesson in how marketing firms hype up absolute dross. Game developers, please wake up, we want more for our money. Our monies worth for a start would be good.
Do buy this June 13, 2005 11 out of 22 found this review helpful
This game is brilliant when I bought it I was really exited and I was not dissapointed when I went on it. I found this game really good as the wepons are great and I love the graphics it provides. On 2 player you can have all kinds of different areanas you see on films. If I was you I would buy this game and they are going cheap on this site now (and even cheaper on used) if I were you I would get it off used but make sure it works!!!
Can't wait for this May 6, 2004 A. Joss (Cardiff) 8 out of 29 found this review helpful
Yet another instalment of this amazing game series will be a blessing to the world. The 007 games in the past have all been amazing and the multiplayer mode will bring excitement to all your friends and will last for a long time. This game can only improve the 007 name.
