avoid at all costs!! May 20, 2004 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
The other reviewer on this site has obviously never played this game (made even more obvious by that fact that it has 4 characters, not 3, and is not published by Midas Interactive), that aside, this game is simply awful and one of the only games ever to have made me angry due to its poor quality. For a start, the graphics are not too hot but trust me, that's the least of this game's problems. There are two basic modes, "dive to air" and "beat balloon", neither of which are remotely enjoyable. "Dive to air" is divided into two parts, the first of which sees you jumping out of a plane and pulling of stunts in the air, then you have to release your parachute, leading to the second part, where you fly around collecting balloon check points. Pulling off the tricks involves punching in a combo then rotating the right analogue stick as quickly as possible. Sometimes you'll get loads of points and a "COOL!", other times you'll get a "OOH BAD!", there doesn't seem to be much determining what you get. What's more, the manual is pathetic and offers no guidance whatsoever. The flying around section is even less enjoyable to due to frustrating controls and stupidly positioned bursts of air that push you up or suck you down just when you're at the right height. The other mode, "beat balloon", is mildy more entertaining but not approaching anything which I would call fun. You hover on a big fan bursting balloons. And that's it. I am shocked this game ever actually saw the light of day, it shouldn't never have been released. Even if you're a mad extreme sports fan I would not advise you buy this, buy anything else instead, it's bound to be more entertaining. You can find this game for under a fiver nowadays but still, don't be tempted, you'll regret it. I've played a lot of bad games in my time but this truly takes the biscuit. The only positive thing I can think to say about this game is that it makes every other game look like a masterpiece.

'Sky Surfer' is a good game and great fun to play. It features 3 different locations, 3 characters, and a choice of 6 boards. It has a number of 'In air' stunts you can do, scoring points to win the round. It is a fun and entertaining game to play by yourself or with others. The graphics is fair and the play is good. Definitely a nice game, well done Midas Interactive!
