Well worth it! February 9, 2008 Orchid Seychelles 13 out of 16 found this review helpful
Sims Castaway Stories is a brilliant game to play! The game itself is a standalone i.e. not an expansion pack of any other The Sims game. It is especially good if you are playing on a laptop. Before going into "Free Play Mode" you have to go through "Story Mode" which is the guided part of the game. This is great because it enables you to unlock tools which you will need when you go into Free Play Mode. Overall very entertaining and quite addictive - I think so anyway :)
Good Story February 12, 2008 Mrs. Sheila Wright (France) 7 out of 12 found this review helpful
I enjoyed the story part of the game, but when you get past that and go into free mode, you are not able to put down lots so unless you put the other survivors in with another family you can't play them. I downloaded the game, that has the problem that unless you are on-line you cant play it, as I live in a rural part of France where my signal is very erratic I find there are days when it is impossible to play. There are lots of bugs with the game too, one of the game people got stuck on a hill side and died. Also if you use items not on your lot like the chess board you don't get any benefit like improved logic. But otherwise a good game it kept me interested.

The Sims2 Castaway was an exciting experience I found as It is compleatly different from any other sims2 game I have ever purchased before. The gameplay is good and story mode is very fun and exciting with about 21 chapters to get through. After you have compleated it though free play mode is very dull and boring nothing to do all the objects and stuff are just broken or tackie. Really makes you love the normal sims2. It is definatly worth buying tho and playing as you will have fun with it and is a good different type of sims2 experience.

Although I enjoyed playing the first part of the game (got to the final stages early hours of today) I found there was not as much control over the action as there is with main Sims2 games. Not being able to use the directional arrows on my keyboard was a problem and also I was losing poor David in the awkward terrain of the village. I haven't killed anyone yet, so Part 2 here I come !!
WARNING WONT PLAY ON LAPTOPS WITH SIS INTERGRATED GRAFIX CARD! June 13, 2008 A. douglas (UK) THIS GAME WON'T PLAY PROPERLY ON SIS INTERGRATED GRAFIX CARD. You get nasty flashing walls, and rubbish grafix effects. Because it's integrated into the motherboard. You can't upgrade the grafix SO DONT BE FOOLED. By the hype that is Laptop friendly. It is not to all Laptops! I have a brand new laptop. I wasn't aware it had a ridiculuos Graphics card inside. If I did, I would of bought a much better Laptop. What makes me angry as this is marketed as laptop friendly. I thought that that the games, stating Laptop Friendly would play on my Laptop.. It's 2gb memory, 120gb hard drive, dual core processor. No problems? Yep. The Sims Stories specs are MINIMUM PC REQUIREMENTS 1.4GHz Processor 256MB RAM 8X DVD-ROM Drive 2.7GB Hard Disk Space 32MB ATi Radeon 7500 or nVidia GeForce2 class Video Card DirectX compatible Sound Card DirectX 9.0c It stated on the Official Maxis site that this game, and the other stories game don't require a video card. How wrong are they! So playing this on my desk top. Its a good game, when it plays properly.
