Warning about pre-ordering from Amazon October 19, 2008 Dante (UK) 80 out of 96 found this review helpful
This is a good expansion(played the beta), but a warning about Amazon, they have now changed to have games like this shipped from a Jersey company (not Amazon) which take an additional 3 days to arrive due to coming from oversea. My last 3 preorders arrived 3 days late, and when I complained Amazon just said "tough". You also can not add next day delivery. Places like Game.co.uk and Play.co.uk still offer the "get it the day of release" like Amazon used to.
Wrath of the Lich King September 17, 2008 J. Roberts (England) 52 out of 61 found this review helpful
Having played the beta from it's opening in July, I have had an oppertunity to see what the developers have been hard at work doing since Blizzcon last year. To my surprise, the results are extroindary. As they have stated on many an occasion, they have taken the good from Burning Crusade and ran with it. The quests and storyline are fresh and rarely feel tedious, the environments are stunning and the music really helps you feel immersed in the experience. Alot of people were dissapointed with Burning Crusade and I can happily say that Wrath of the Lich King has looked back, seen the issues that the previous expansion had and moved in the opposite direction. The Death Knight hero class, which at first to me seemed inappropriate and a possible lore killer, fits in reasonably well with the story and the starting zone really makes you feel as though you are playing the very first hero class. Some things from the old world have been changed to reflect storyline changes (E.G the removal of Lady Katrana Prestor A.K.A Onyxia from Stormwind and the return of the King.) which is refreshing and makes the game feel alot less static. In addition a new mechanic has been added that allows for a story to progress through questing that changes the environment on a client side level so that only those that have reached that point can see the changes. (An excelent example of this is during the Death Knight starting quests and later in Northrend.) which again makes you feel really immersed in the story that is being told. This addition to an already amazing game takes the War in Warcraf to a whole new level, while in Northrend you will really feel as though your actions could really save Azeroth. Fans of the lore will also be satisfied with the return of an old villain and the effects it has on the entire world. I would recommend this expansion for anyone that has played World of Warcraft in the past and enjoyed it, it really does give the game a fresh breath of life!
Amazon's Mistake November 11, 2008 D. Saltmer (UK) 28 out of 34 found this review helpful
Extremely disappointed with amazon, who up until recently were very good at releases like this. A release this high profile, and they dispatch from a jersey company who describes themselves via their unfinished website that they are "nearly ready to launch". Will be sending my order back if it doesnt arrive on day of release at the very latest, everyone else I know has had theirs dispatched, still waiting for mine to be sent. Won't be using them again for releases like this, hope they notice a loss in sales due to their arrogance in this.
Why 2 or 3 days delivery??? September 15, 2008 Stephane Morin (London) 25 out of 60 found this review helpful
Guys first of all the date of release is 13 november not the 4th, then u say you can't delivery in 24H that's why you won't get my order. If this item was sold by Amazon with the usual shipping time for couple of pounds more i would have pre ordered it.
failure on delivery. November 13, 2008 L. Bowyer (UK) 24 out of 32 found this review helpful
Not a review of the game, just a rant about how amazon have let valued customers down. I pre-orded and paid for WOTLK months ago. I noticed on the day of shipping that is was posted from jersey by indigostarfish. It was shipped on the 10/11 with a delivery date of 15/11 and i paid first class postage for this. yes first class postage which should mean faster than the saver 5 day postage option thats normally free. Im dissapointed that this hasnt been delivered yet. I feel cheated by amazon big time and it making me think twice about using them again for a pre-order in the future. Vote with your feet people, buy i locally and return the copy sent by amazaon for a refund as amazon have violated their terms by charging for first class postage and delivering it much later. Just use the reason delivered too late under the reason for return. Under the distance sellers act you can request a refund and the reinbursed postage costs of returning it.... poor poor show amazon. Hopefully the game is gonna be good!
