If you're looking for Strategy this is for you! May 15, 2007 Raziel_uk (UK) 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
Rome: Total War mixes two gaming genres perfectly. The main game is played out in turn-based style - just like that other great, Civilisation - but once you launch into battle it goes into real time strategy with, at times, thousands of characters on screen at once. It is a very involving game and you can easily lose hours while playing, without even realising it. I said to my wife I was going to play for half an hour. A while later she came and asked if I was finishing any time soon - that was FOUR HOURS later! The graphics are well done and very detailed, the music, sound effects, etc all match the game perfectly. R:TW is a cracking game for those who have the time to invest in it.

simply the best gme ever!! January 6, 2008 lightening (london) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This game is my all time favourite. Rome total war uses a turn based world map to create a good sense of strategy. Then as if this was not enough, they also produced one of the best real time battle modes, with amazing pan shots of the battle field and the ablity to zoom right in on each individual man of your vast armies. Rome total war could only be topped by one of the latest in the series ,medieval total war 2, which uses the same features but with improved graphics and obvioulsy a changed age in which it is set. Rome total war however is still worth a place on any gamers shelf as it is the mother of all good strategy games.
