Amazon.co.uk Review The original The Sims is the best selling PC game ever but after four years and seven expansion discs it's finally starting to look a bit long in the tooth. As the first official sequel almost everything in The Sims 2 has been expanded and improved on from the original, even if the basic idea remains the same: to create and control the lives of your virtual characters.
The entire scope of the game has now increased--your characters age and give birth to children. Sims remain children only for a few weeks, before spending most of the game as adults and then eventually dying and the game carrying on with their children and grandchildren--if they have any. Another big new feature of the game is the introduction of specific "aspirations" for your sim, which can be anything from a specific career to marrying a particular person. Each sim also has their own "fears", which can be anything from living alone to losing their hair. Which of these situations end up coming true becomes the main influence on whether your sim is happy, the attainment of which is the only true goal in the game.
Apart from all these new features the graphics have been severely overhauled are now in full 3D and more in line with the recent console spin-offs. This is a must buy for anyone that's ever enjoyed the original titles, but the new features should also be enough to entice sceptics to the fold as well. --David Jenkins

What about the system requirements???!!!!!!!!!!!! (Lucy)August 22, 2004 415 out of 573 found this review helpful
i wonder how many of you, who have preordered the game, have actually checked the system requirements. Cos i have wanted the game for ages, it looks ace, i was desperate this morning to preorder the game. Just before selling my Sims 1 games i checked the system requirements, 3.5 GB, that is a ridiculous amount. So, i am now extremely dissapointed, and i wonder how many of you will be when you get your game and it tells you you cannot play. What will you do?? So before buying this ace game. CHECK THE SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS OR YOU WILL BE VERY VERY UPSET!!!
P.s- Sorry and all!

I think that the Sims 2 looks great and would recommend it to everyone. However the main reason for this review is to comment on the review of the delivery service. I have pre-ordered several items from Amazon.co.uk and have always received them the morning that the item is released to the public. I find this amazing because it means I can be playing my game instead of battling through the crowds to go to the shops.

1 star why? Well because every dolt here is issuing 5 without ever having played the game. Why? Because its not out yet! How can you rate something that you havent played?
Best game of 2004? So youre forgetting Doom 3, Half Life 2 and if it makes it STALKER?
The Sims 2 will be an intresting game no doubt but no one should take seriously anyone here who rants on about it being "So amazing!!11!!!1 well ok i havent played it but lik it roxors!" How do you people not fall over more?
Looks like the best game of 2004!September 6, 2004 Barnaby Twyman(Staines, England) 119 out of 133 found this review helpful
The Sims was the best selling PC game of all time but even that game has shown signs of aging. So to avoid becoming a one hit wonder Maxis and EA Games are releasing The Sims 2! The official sequel to the smash hit original! Many people argue that The Sims 2 is just The Sims with better graphics but they are SO wrong! Here's what is featured in the game . . .
1) Your sims now have certain dreams and fears. If they accomplish too many fears they'll have a nervous breakdown. 2) However if they accomplish dreams they'll unlock items to make them happier or better skills to socialize. 3) If you have SimCity 4 installed you can build your own neighbourhoods for your sims to live in. 4) Your sims are a lot more intelligent. If someone near them smells they'll react. They also know who are family members. 5) Instead of just taking pictures of your sims like in the original you can actually make mini movies of them! 6) You finally have the ability to place windows and doors on diagonal walls! AT LAST!!! 7) You can build upto 4 storeys instead of the standard 2. You can also build sundecks, porches and attics. 8) There are now 6 stages of life. Baby, toddler, child, teen, adult and elderly person.
Like me many other fans of The Sims 2 have been waiting nearly a year for this game as it was constantly delayed from January to March to July to August. But the game is now only 2 weeks away and unless there is a gigantic storm there is no way the game will be delayed for it's September launch date.
However as the game is almost upon us some last minute details have been revealed. Your sims will not be hit by lighting in the jacuzzi like seen in many of the pictures, there isn't any rainy weather in the game as it was proving to be a hard problem to get it to work and finally you still can't build basements which is something many fans have been wanting for ages! But these tiny details won't really make any difference to the game's sure success and if you do find yourself getting a little bored with the game around Christmas don't fear cause the game's first expansion pack is due for release early 2005! The URBZ : Sims in the City is also available in November for the Xbox, PS2, GameCube and GameBoy Advance.
Sims 2 worth every pennySeptember 22, 2004 118 out of 137 found this review helpful
When I bought this game I wanted it to pass the time while I wait for Rome Total War and LOTR Battle for middle Earth but this game could keep me occupied for a long time. The ageing is perfect. They don't age to quick and they don't age to slow, they got is absolutely spot on. The graffics are so much better for example when a Sim is playing SSX 3 on the PS2 or whatever its called on Sims u can actually reconize the levels they play............the main other features besides ageing are Sims getting fatter........and the main one the family tree system.....I got this game as soon as it came out and it was not a dissapointment..............................
I strongly recommend this game to anyone who thinks it looks good and people who don't.....my brother didn't think it looked any good but hes been on it non stop.......a truly great game
