Amazon.co.uk Review
There seems to be no end in sight for football's popularity as the FA Premier League continues its march across the world's consciousness. The players themselves are as well known in Kuala Lumpur as they are in the North of England. What better than a game that represents the League and its stars?

The FA Premier League Stars replicates the passion and glory of the world's most exciting league by integrating commentary, stadiums, clubs and most importantly its stars. Using the Stars concept, users win games, earn stars and even improve their team's skills such as passing, shooting and tackling.

This game is as exciting as it sounds, and users don't need to be football fans to enjoy it. Installation is quick and easy, although the familiar commentaries do grate a little. As the game progresses, however, a little bit of football knowledge does come in handy--not everyone is versed in the subtleties of the game. A great laugh, and much better than watching "Match of the Day". --Paul Munford

3 out of 5 stars Speedy!   January 21, 2001

FA Premier League Stars is extremely fast! But the tiny, irratating glitchs really get on my nerves. All the logos are there, but you only get to play one full Premier League Season! It has the making of a good game, shame...

4 out of 5 stars Better then FIFA 2001   May 10, 2001
This is not a bad effort from EA. It is quick, but not too quick. All the grounds and kits and logos are present and correct. My only gripe is that there does again seem to be a way that you can score almost everytime. In FIFA 2001, its scissor kicks, in this, just whack a corner to the far stick. The keeper will be there, so just head the ball across the face of goal. He probably won't get back in time and it will be a goal. Other than that small concern, a great game.

2 out of 5 stars FA Premier League Stars 2001   April 16, 2002
I find it a shame that EA Sports chose to use a new engine for this game, rather than keeping the origional Fifa series that I find to be getting better and better as time goes on. The Stars gameplay is good fun, but it is also anything but realistic. The ball moves along the ground like a bullet, but when you shoot, it's like a balloon. The graphics are seriously poor for 2001 (apart from the stadiums). The players are square looking, the shirts have no texture and look like plastic, and the size and shape proportions are way off. As I said, the stands are the only thing that you can marvel at, because they really DO look good. It would have been nice to see the FA Cup and Worthington Cup (or something to replace them), and have a more realistic European Cup (rather than having to play a Premiership team in the first round).

The in game tackling is absolutely terrible. It takes days to get the hang of it, and when you do eventually manage to tackle someone, you get yellow carded for it.

I would say that the game is enjoyable, but if you are looking for a really good, realistic football simulation, look elsewhere.

I suggest the Fifa series for the PC.
