1 out of 5 stars Double the price of the american version!!   April 10, 2008

Firstly make a note that for 130, you don't get the game. That's 50 extra. You could get all 180 worth in the US for $170 - that's just 85. For some reason, the publishers have increased the RPP considerably for the Europeon release. Even with amazon discounts, it's still way overpriced. Wait for the inevitable price drop!

This is double the price of the USA version and does not include the game.

Wait a couple of months till Guitar Hero 4 is on the way and watch the price come down.

Electronic Arts are a joke thinking they can rip off people outside the USA

1 out of 5 stars Ridiculously overpriced   April 15, 2008

This set does not include the game, but the US version does. Why do we have to pay an extra 50 for the game disc, it's despicable. Sorry EA, you need to fix this.

Despite Amazon's decent discount from the RRP - it was too high to begin with. EA should not be allowed to get away with charging us so much more than the American version. It should be shipped with the game at least.

1 out of 5 stars Only one sane thing to do - don't buy it   May 17, 2008

Let's make one thing clear - I've been looking forward to this game since it was first announced. But I'm going to be unable to buy it because of EA's pricing.

Not because I can't afford to buy it at that price, but because it's a shamelessly cynical attempt to fleece the European/UK market to subsidise the US release of the game. Not only do we have to wait half a year from the US release date to get just *one* version of the game released over here, but the pricing is frankly obscene.

Yes, games cost more in the UK than the US. I think everyone knows that by now. But all the Rock Band apologists pointing this out seem to forget to ask *how much* more they cost. The answer is pretty much the same across the board - 50% to 60% over US SRP, which accounts for VAT, import duties, and higher cost of the retail chain. Rock Band is marked up by *110%* over US SRP. There's just no justification for that, and EA have been very quietly avoiding trying to make one, hoping everyone will just ignore it and buy the game anyway.

The only sane answer? Don't buy the game. Every person that buys it is telling EA that they're happy to be charged over double the price of games in the US. And once you tell them that, you can expect to see it again and again in the future. Make no mistake, this is the thin end of the wedge.

A fair RRP for this game, based on the normal conversion rate for these things, would be 135. The actual RRP is 180. That's the best part of 50 that you're being overcharged. Include the game with the band-in-a-box? Fine, it becomes a sensible purchase again. But until that happens, nobody should be giving EA a penny.
