Too little too late. April 8, 2008 Mr. Mark N. Cope (Staffordshire, UK) 72 out of 90 found this review helpful
Having waited for over 6 months for this game to be released, I read today that EA have finally announced the prices. What would cost the americans less than 90 over six months ago will now be costing us 180. I can accept that we get fleeced a little on most games, but over double the price? You've got to be kidding me! Vote with your wallets, avoid this game.
The Customer Is Always Right... April 13, 2008 Dean Reilly (West Midlands, United Kingdom) 53 out of 67 found this review helpful
Here's the thing: UK Gamers have somewhat got used to not always being at the top of the list when it comes to Games Developers priorities. That's a given - we get the importance of different territories, of financial value, of scale and size of audience... But there's unique problems with Rock Band that give us more than justifiable reason to gripe. The incredible delay in actually getting this product into the hands of UK gamers was annoying, to say the least. In this global gaming community we're all part of, our overseas "we've got it, you haven't" friends took great pleasure in rubbing salt in the wounds. The American's even added a side of fries with that, because some habits are too hard to break. But the stiff upper lip got us through. And then the release date was pushed back. Again. And again. Then finally along comes a set-in-stone release date. Fantastic! There'll even be bucketloads of tracks to download via Xbox Live. Brilliant! Euro exclusive tracks come bundled with it! Nice! It's double the cost US gamers paid. Alright! Wait... what? Simply by setting the price point so high, many gamers are squeezed out of the game before it's even hit the shelves. It's a hideous example of a blatant double standard that would set an uncomfortable and damaging precedent. Many people on these pages have echoed the words "vote with your wallet." They're right, of course. They've slapped a 1 star rating on a 5 star game, because it's really the only way of slapping a 1 star rating where it deserves to go - on the games distributors themselves. I really do hope that those in control of the purse-strings do take notice of their audience. Whether the gamers are delivering their point clearly and cooly, or with rants that indicate a blood pressure level so high that their eyes might burst at any minute. Whatever the case, I'm going to have to join them. For once, this gamer will not play along.
An average consumer says: April 15, 2008 Alex Day (Essex, UK) 35 out of 44 found this review helpful
I'm not usually fussy about paying more than the US do. We're a rich country, I get that. But in America, this cost 170 bucks. Here, it's costing 180 POUNDS. Changing the dollar sign to a pound sign is not what an exchange rate means.
it just a matter of waiting... November 16, 2007 N. Bosworth (Derby, uk) 23 out of 44 found this review helpful
Its all about patents Unfortunately, here in the uk we have been once again shafted and will have to wait until 2008 for this one, but my friends... do not be hiesty and settle for Guitar hero III just because of the wait... as the saying goes good things come to those that wait This game IS guitar hero III, plus drum hero, plus Bass Hero, Plus Front Man Hero... oh and it has better tunes (at least from a UK perspective) and.... The downloadable content is MEGA. By the time it comes out here the whole of NEVERMIND! By NIRVANA! Will be available for the game. The whole game of creating the band and living it is a much deeper and richer experience than just working though a list of tracks in the guitar hero games. And how does it play... well its by the original developers who have also made drumming and singing games, so you know its just going to work perfectly. Initial reviews from the USA rate it between 9.5 and 10. If playing alone you have the guitar, drum and vocal campaigns to play though, but then, Friday night with the boys (and beer) kicks in and this game comes into its own! Do yourself a favour, wait... it will be worth it And if your that desperate.. call of duty 4 and orange box are out there... plus mass effect is on its way!
180 for rock band is a total rip off April 8, 2008 D. Jacques (Ippy O Swich) 19 out of 24 found this review helpful
anyone that pays 180 for this is a fool .. its onyl 85 in the USA .. once again the UK gets shaffted by compaines .
