Product Description Kane & Lynch: Dead Men is a violent and chaotic journey of two supposedly dead men - a flawed mercenary and a medicated psychopath ? and their brutal attitude towards right and wrong. Kane and Lynch's volatile partnership combined with innovative technologies allows Kane & Lynch: Dead Man to be an unparalleled gaming experience.
Amazon.co.uk Preview With the Hitman series already well established, Danish developer Io Interactive are not exactly masters of the family friendly game. This latest effort is their most violent and shocking yet, as you take control of reluctant mercenary Kane and his schizophrenic partner Lynch. Neither character likes the other but for the purposes of the story they have to work together in a series of violent third person shoot outs. By default you control Kane, with the computer or another player taking on the role of Lynch. As the game progress you will also be able to recruit a team of up to eight mercenaries, with your reputation determining the quality of the personnel applying for the job. Ordering your squad around is easy enough but since any of them, particularly Lynch, can have completely different objectives to you, they won't always take orders - particularly if they've taken a dislike to you already - which is a real problem when you want them to administer some first aid.Although it is much more action packed than the Hitman games, there are obviously similarities between the two games, with highly interactive environments and multiple ways to approach any problem. One particular highlight already demonstrated involves a kidnapping at a rave with Kane & Lynch firing into the air to disperse a large crowd of dancers before engaging in a brutal gun battle with security guards, as the sound and music system continues to flash and blare. If the rest of the game is just as inventive with its scenarios then Io may well keep Kane and Lynch alive for a little longer. HARRISON DENT

don't listen to the anti hype this game is as cool as robbing a bank in a grey suit armed with a m16! November 24, 2007 UnluckyBauer007 (York England) 23 out of 27 found this review helpful
I really don't understand all bad reviews of this uber cool game. Firstly I will admit I wasn't blown away by the game to begin with, the graphics did seem a bit ropey, it certainly didn't look as impressive as Assassins Creed, but as I got used to it though I realised that the developers have just gone for a more realistic look especially with the colours & textures. In fact the graphics in the nightclub level look fantastic, the whole atmosphere of that nightclub level is fantastic, and the frame rate is great considering the dance floor is packed full of amazingly detailed people dancing. In fact the attention to details is very good in Kane & Lynch, smoke, lighting effects everything seems so life like. The whole game really tries to emulate the style of the excellent Micheal Mann, the nightclub level inparticular looks like it was cut and pasted from Collateral and the bank robbery levels from Heat. I almost expected to run out of the bank and run into Al Pacino! I admit this is probably the main reason I love this game, I love these sort of movies and it felt like I was in one. There has been complaints about the targeting system, Yes I agree it does take some getting used to, its not quite got the pin point acuracy of GRAW but then again Kane is not a marine is he! I really don't find it a problem at all. Any one that is marginly skilled can enjoy taking a room of bad guys out with no problems. The game can be challenging though mainly because of the bad guys superb AI, they run for cover crouch behind anything can find, some times I saw a leg slightly sticking out I shot and clipped them, and the bad guy quicky moved himself to more covered position. The story its self again looks like it come from the pen of Micheal Mann its fantastic, I will warn you its not for children of big wimps that don't like grown up games. It really gets you involved, the characters are really cool lynch is just funny in psychotic kind of way, Kane is great and it feels fantastic to control this gun totting merc. The bad guys (I say bad guys but this nearly the whole cast of K&L are bad guys) are very well scripted and very menancing. Multiplayer! one of the best features of K&L, the multiplayer really gives you something different than the usual death matches, CTF, headquarters ect. You start working as team of mercs, and you must work together to rob a number of locations, banks, shops diners ect. Your objective is to steal as much dollar as possible, so you break in, grap & get out and the total amount of your teams bounty is shared amongst all of your team. Of course there are number of armed guards to try and stop you, and should you get killed by said guards you become one of them and must stop your former gang members. The best bit is once your gang has made it out of the bank with bags full of cash you can just decide to kill them all. letting you keep the whole bounty and head straight to the top of the rankings, but just bare in mind your gang memebers will be gunning for you on the next round and a nice orange flag saying traitor lights up above your head just to remind them. To sum up this is a very stylish, tough, adult, fun, cool mother of a game that does have its faults and could have done with a couple of months more in developement, but it is different then most games out at the moment and if you like the movies HEAT, Colleteral ect then grab a copy today!
A game where the action serves a story December 19, 2007 Doc (UK) 17 out of 18 found this review helpful
This is a good game. There may be nothing terribly new in the set up (bank robberies, underworld characters, twists aplenty) but that's how genre entertainment works - the enjoyment of spending time in a world we are familiar with. And this is a game that is fully aware of its generic antecedents. At times this feels like Heat, then Collateral, then Reservoir Dogs. The central characters are different though. Flawed, pyschotic, balding - these are not the run of the mill game heroes. And the game is all the better because of it. One of the true pleasures of the game is learning more about them. A lot of the negative comments are to do with pacing. This is not a blazing action game. Rather, the action serves the story. However, the action is great: intense, thrilling, varied and immersive. The control system has also received a lot of criticism and I can't really understand why. It is intuitive and responsive. The targeting is not absolutely precise, more of a guide, and in a game aiming for a more realistic approach, this works very well. Similarly the effectiveness of the enemy is a good thing - you really feel that Kane and Lynch are vulnerable, meaning you take your time, plan ahead. The graphics are good and the whole thing has a style that feels right. Highly recommended.
WENT TO PRESS RELEASEWOOOW!!!!! August 27, 2007 J. A. Barrell (us) 10 out of 64 found this review helpful
I JUST CAME BACK FROM THE OFFICIAL KANE AND LYNCH DEAD MEN GAME PRESS/DEMO RELEASE AND BOY I COULDNT STOP PLAYING! ITS EXTREMELY VOILENT AND SICK AND GORY AT THE SAME TIME REALISTIC, BUT ON THE OTHERHAND, THE SMOOTH MOVES, GRIPPING ACTION AND WICKED GRAPHICS, MAKES THIS GAME MORE FIT THAN HALO 3, WHICH, BY THE WAY, I HAVE PLAYED THE DEMO AS WELL, AND...IT'S ALRIGHT.
Kane & Lynch: Dead Brain Gaming December 30, 2007 N. Martin 9 out of 15 found this review helpful
Like many of the reviewers here, I was suckered in by the trailers for this game. I mean, dammit! They looked so good, and the game promised to make the legendary Hitman series look like a Care-Bears picnic with added sap! Instead, once the wrapper came off the game and the disc began spinning in my Xbox-360, I got this... this... this awful dog of a game. It's not all bad. On the positive side, the graphics are smooth and the design of the game is stunning - I've heard other reviewers liking it to a Michael Mann film, and the resemblence is there: this is high-octane Hollywood at its best-looking. Another kudos (and here's the kid in me) is that it is genuinely adult - the violence, language and general content of the game deserve that 18 certificate. Sounds stupid, I know, but after months of facing the twee creations offered by my son's Nintendo Wii, being able to play something geared for the - ahem - more mature audience was exhilarating. However - and it's a big HOWEVER - the good points are far outweighed by the bad. Firstly, even on easy mode, this game is hard. I'm not being soft here - games are supposed to challenge players, that's the point. But this game is insane. If you've ever played GTA (and if you have, there's no doubt that like me, you've gone on a rampage that has brought the wrath of the police, SWAT and FBI teams down upon you), you'll understand the insanity that ensues once you have a 5-star wanted rating. But in GTA it takes time to build. In Kane & Lynch you're thrust into this from the beginning. With no weapons. And a directional control system that appears to have been designed by Stevie Wonder when he was drunk. And a weapon's targeting system (once you eventually get your mitts on one) that makes you think YOU are Stevie Wonder. And you're drunk. Add to this a linear storyline that forces your hand at every opportunity and you'll appreciate the above rating. It's disappointing, but this game is a throwback to the pre-Xbox era. Hitman was linear, but each scene gave you an opportunity to stretch your brain whilst you figured out how YOU wanted to complete the mission. In Kane and Lynch it's "you must go this way. Then you must go that way. Then you must kill this guy before doing this. Then kill that guy", etc, etc. That's not gameplay. That's a friggin instruction manual that's cost me 40-quid, being played out on my Xbox. Quite frankly, it's put me off some of these way-to-cool-to-be-true games currently being trailered (Army of Two, Bioshock etc). A warning to all - don't believe the hype. Try before you buy. You have been warned.
BIG LET DOWN! stick with ghost recon ;-) November 29, 2007 Mr. Wayne Eccott (Margate of course! UK) 7 out of 13 found this review helpful
All the hype surrounding this game is ridiculous! it is aimed at the gamer who just sits and plays games all day and not for people who just jump on their consoles evey now and then. Serious flaws in this game compared to ghost recon. There is no automatic Aim so you spend hours getting shot while you try to line your enemy up! I am sure the automatic aim would not be a problem if i spent hours and hours just playing games, but i dont, i have a life too! When i jump on the xbox i dont want to be andy mcnab, i just want to shoot a few things and unwind and destress! I am not a member of the SAS i am just playing a game and trying to relax a little bit. To say this game is a bit on the difficult side is crazy, for instance once you get to the havana square mission there are so many enimies and an indestructable gunship helicopter to contend with its like a one man v country war, nigh on impossible mission unless you just sit in front of your tv all day, day after day playing the damn thing. The graphics for an xbox game are terrible, i am playing on a new sony bravia lcd tv and the graphics are still poor. The man Kane who you play as has an irritating habit, when you run up behind a wall to hide sometimes the dude keeps moving even though you have not touched the control..out he goes into a wide open space and bang shot dead! nice!! The save system on the game is appauling too! if you die in a mission you have to start all the way back at the begining of the chapter, not where you were last in action. You cannot save in the middle of a mission you have to complete the mission first. If you are a serious gamer who has no life or job and you live to play video games then i would imagine this might be a good game, but if like me you have a life and a job and your console is a means of a bit of light hearted stress relief then stay well clear of this game!! I have just sold my copy on Ebay as it was too serious for me. If you want to join the SAS but know you wont pass the exams to get in, buy the game as it will be the next best thing! WHAT A LET DOWN!! going back to ghost recon now for a good ol' fashioned shoot em up. Rant over :-)
