More than any other first person shooter the Far Cry games have been a perverse combination of beautiful graphics (in this case a gorgeous tropical island) and uncompromising violence. This new Xbox 360 version includes a revamped version of the highly rated Xbox game, as well as an all-new expansion named Evolution. You start Evolution with all the bestial powers you gained in Instincts, including one hit kills and night vision, and as you'd expect the graphics have been given a serious overhaul - not just in terms of resolution but also the complexity and detail of everything in the game from enemy soldiers to the beautifully rolling sea. Most exciting moment:
Taking out bad guys from your jet ski as you use it to jump ashore, run into the jungle, and quickly set-up a booby trap to stop pursuing bad guys. Since you ask:

Far Cry I.P is a fantastic FPS with all the right combinations of tension, action and violence as well as a gripping and thorough storyline.
To begin with, the graphics. They are very slightly improved from the xbox version but are not very impressive for 360 graphics, especially when compared to something like Ghost Recon AW or Fight Night Round 3 but they'll do. Let's be honest graphics aren't everything. The water is especially good but the trees, bushes and general scenery is where the game's graphics are let down.
Secondly, the storyline. This is one of the better attributes of the game; it is gripping, enthralling and often utilizes the setting, weather and time of day to make it really atmospheric.
The basic story for the first game's missions (because it's 2 games in 1) is you are Jack Carver, a guy with a shady history who comes to the Jacutan Islands in Micronesia to escape his past. He buys a boat and uses it take tourists around the islands but one tourist is looking for more than just a picture and goes ashore. Your boat then gets blown up by hired militia and you have to escape onto the island. In your desperate search to find a way off the island you attract the attention of a disillusioned scientist and you become his test subject. The drug he gives you, gives you the powers of a predator and you must use these to find a way out.
The basic story for the second game's missions basically follows on from this and you are framed for something you didn't do, which annoys a few unfriendly pirates. Don't be fooled though - they don't all carry swords and parrots!! These pirates carry big guns. But beware, there is more to this than first appears.
Next, the gameplay. This is another big plus-point for the game. It's fun, action-packed and moves smoothly. You can also choose how to go through the game; blast your way through it, sneak through stealthily or have a combination of both.
Next, the sound. Nothing special about this unless you're playing with surround sound and even then it isn't jaw-dropping, but it's good enough. Bullets hitting trees, water, stone, earth etc sounds decent enough and the sound of the weapons firing is quite good too. The sounds of wildlife and your surroundings though are outstanding.
Next, the multiplayer and map-maker. The map-maker is a brilliant feature. You can create your own maps from scatch using different themes and scenery. It is probably the easiest map-maker ever and boasts a lot of detail. You can then play on these maps with your mate on multiplayer or submit the map to xbox live and let everyone experience your genius!
Lastly, the lifespan. This is perhaps the game's biggest attribute. Because this is the 2 games from the original xbox (Far Cry Instincts & Far Cry Instincts: Evolution) combined, (both of which were long games in themselves) this becomes one of the longest games I have ever played on. You don't get bored either, due to the brilliant variety in gameplay which means that this game is unbelieveably good value for money.
The only reason that I gave this game 4 stars instead of 5, is that it does not give anything more than the original xbox versions, it does not have any extras for the 360 and the graphics are barely improved.
If you played the games on the normal xbox don't bother with this game, THEY ARE VIRTUALLY IDENTICAL! however if you didn't, and can appreciate a good game, then you would be mad not to buy this.

I have the original Far Cry for my PC and was impressed with it but Predator takes it to a completely different level. The graphics are stunning and the gameplay is very addictive. This game also has some of the best A.I. I have ever seen. Enemies will not only hunt you out but use pincer movements on you and adapt their movements based on your attack.
The one thing that amazed me with this game was the water. Video games have never been able to give a decent looking water effect (until half life 2 came along) but Predator has amongst the most realistic water effect I have ever seen.
A stunning looking game with amazing gameplay. When you get a 360 make sure this is one of the first games you buy and you will not be dissapointed with your new console.

This game is wiked!! 2 games in one, the graphics on the first part are rendered for the xbox 360 from an xbox game so it looks good but not amazing, the second half of the game is much better with improved grapics. This game is verry good and is a credit to first person shooters. For some reason it has got off on a bad foot with some of the critics giving bad ratings. I have lent this game to my friends and they all love it. Its a mix of halo, splinter cell, soldure of fortune tipe play. A verry good game.
If you thought HALO was the main game in XBOX then you better look in the Gameplaying Book once more...... July 8, 2006

Play as Jack Carver at the beginning and evolve into the ultimate predator as you travel in this tropical island and make it your own personal HELL!!
The best game i have played since buying my xbox 360!!!!!!

Had 360 for about a month now, Im over 30 so seen my fair share of games over the years (zx spectrum and bbc b owner).
I started reading about the 360 and was quite impressed. PGR was the game that did it for me so I bought the console.With just the one game.
However I did subscribe to a certain game renting service and have had most of the 360 titles to date :NFS most wanted 8/10
Condemned 7/10 (walking round in the dark getting lost)
Quake 6/10 (boring) prefer BF2 on PC (9/10)
King kong 6/10 (good graphically,am I just getting too old for vdeogames? :P)
Amped 5/10 (ok for a teen I would think) I liked the golf on the PS2 (Tiger woods) and am waiting for this along with COD and FIFA .I'm not even bothering with Full Auto as write up has been crap.GUN was good on pc but completed it so not going there either. PDZ arrived today so Im having a crack on that in a minute.
Basically Im not overly impressed with any of it........
However Im scanning the future releases and "Far Cry Instincts: Predator" is looking good. I owned Far Cry on the pc and the graphics were amazing but the 360 version is out of this world.
Check out these comparisons Along with Fight Night 3 ,Gears of war and some of the other upcoming titles on the 360 things can only get better.Its gotta take the game developers a while to get to grips with the hardware.
So Im sticking my neck out and giving this title a 4/5 and its one I AM going to pre order.
