Awesome...Simply Awesome March 17, 2006 B. Johnson (England, Cheshire) 11 out of 16 found this review helpful
This game has to be one of the best games I have ever played. I am not usually a fan of sports games but this game takes me beyond any sports game I've played before. OK. Let's start with the graphics. They are unbelievably real (the second best so far on 360 after Ghost Recon). The facial graphics are fantastic as well as the graphics of the crowd and objects (Muhammad Ali looks exactly like the real one!). Also, the human physics are excellent and the characters move realistically. Very occasionally however, a boxer's hand will punch through his opponents head (literally).Next, the gameplay. This is also brilliant; with controls being fairly easy to get used to. However, some punches require similar movements of the analogue sticks and you can often throw a punch that you don't mean to. The sound. Fantastic! You can hear the crunch of every punch, the cracking of bone, the thudding of your opponent's body hitting the canvas. The soundtracks and music are also great (mostly rap) but I suppose that depends on your your musical taste. The commentators are good and are only very occasionally repetitive. My only other concern is the crowd. On the default setting the crowd are not nearly loud enough but this can be solved by pressing start in the middle of the fight, going to settings and turning the crowd volume to full. Lastly, Lifespan and variety. The variety in this game is quite good for a boxing game as you can have multi-player fights, you can customize boxers and design your own boxers. You have the career mode where you can remake a legend e.g. Ali and you can make your own boxer and take him through all of the weight classes. As you take your boxer through his career there are trophies to win and competitions to win. To complete the game I think it would take you about a week of solid playing to complete all of the weights but the game could occupy you for weeks before you wanted another game. Overall, I would say that this game has to be one of the top 5 games on 360 so far. Others being COD 2, Ghost Recon AW, Proj Gotham and Perfect Dark.
Demo review January 7, 2006 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
Recently been playing the demo for this, downloadable from Xbox Live Marketplace. Have to say it looks like its gonna be great! The first thing you notice is of course, the graphics. These are knothing short of fantastic. The fighters look soooo realistic. That wouldnt mean diddly if the gameplay wasnt there, though. Personally, I think it plays great. Its easy to string together a rapid flurry of punches. If you land a big one, your treated to a slowmo replay...in close up, of your opponents face, the flesh rippling with the impact. Two player, over live or sitting in the same room, this will be amazing.
One of the best boxing games ever! March 23, 2006 Mr. D. Byrne (uk) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
Normally I dont go for boxing games. They almost always turn into total 'button bashing' affair. Borndom then normally sets in soon after. Then I tried Fight Night round 3 on Xbox 360. For the first hour I was blown away by the graphics. The boxers look stunning! In fairness I dont know many boxers but I immediately could tell who was who. Now I would not say the boxers are photo real but it comes very close indeed. After a few hours of play something else happened! I found myself naturally picking my punches and intuitively working my way through each fight. Button bashing quickly lead to defeat! After a couple of days I was really able to mix things up throwing all manner of combos. Again this all happened naturally and without the need for memorizing. I just knew my way round the ring. The whole thing is easy to play but seems to take more time to master. As any beat em up fan knows this is key to any good fight game. Now if you dont like beat em ups nor boxing you will not enjoy this game. It unlikly to change your mind if you have already decided you dont like this kind of game. So dont buy it and dont rate it. Otherwise I can totally recommend this game to you. At last EA sports has done a game on the Xbox that doesnt seem lazy! This perhaps one of the best boxing games ever, or at least a contender for the crown.
Best Boxing Game Ever!!!!!!!!!!! November 29, 2006 _Kay Kay_ (London, United Kingdom) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
This game is truly the best boxing game ever. On the 360 it feels like your watching a real match only that your controlling it. The graphics are as close to real-life your going to get as it sometimes look too real which is great. The boxers really do look like their real-life counter-parts. There are no damage bars on the screen as you can tell if your boxer is hurting just by looking at him and also by the sweating and heavy breathing. The boxing techniques are flawless with the analogue stick so there are no complex button combinations. They could have made the entrances abit longer and could have added more crowd reactions other than that this game is superb. If you are a boxing fan this game must be purchaed. 10/10
Fight night round 3 February 8, 2006 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This game is top class. I have only played the demo but have been looking into the full game. There is so much to the game and apart from the amazing graphics the controlls are easy to use. The single player is a little slow but the game is great on two player and is very quick. I will be getting this game for the online play which will be brill. Make your own boxer and batter some americans. Sounds great. Some of the screenshots for the game are unbelievable and the crowds are so real. Also there will be 35 or so boxers from ali to our very own hutton. But making your own boxer is where its at. I only buy games i can play online and this is my number one on most wanted. So dont write game off as slow till you have tried 2 player.
