Xbox 360 High Definition Component AV Cable (Xbox 360)

The Microsoft cable produces a fantastic clear image, without the abovementioned problem. Unlike the Joytech version it doesn't come with an optical lead included, and is slightly more expensive, but the image quality is worth the extra money.

The official product definitely wins hands down in this case.

ps After originally being put off by a 7-10 day delivery time (due to shortages in the UK), I'm happy to report that Amazon had it with me inside 48 hours. Excellent service.

This is a good cable and gives an excellent picture, however the technical specification bullet points could be clearer!

I bought this cable expecting to be able to connect the xbox 360 to a Dolby 5.1 surround sound amp. Unfortunately this cable does not have the lead, rather port to connect *another* cable to a 5.1 surround amp.

I was disappointed that this cable alone can not give high-def AND 5.1 Dolby Surround Sound. I will have to buy ANOTHER 5.1 optical cable.

We really need a cable that offers proper HDMI connection AND dolby 5.1 optical!

I just recently bought a 32" HD tv and was unsure to go with this cable or the VGA one. After reading many reviews I opted for the component cable and it works perfectly. The HD quality of the 360 games is amazing. I have also heard that the other third party cables dont have the proper protection so it is most likely best to go with this official microsoft one. If you are after a cable to make the transition to HD gaming this is the one to get. Gears of War and Fight night look like stunning. Cant wait for Mass Effect and Halo 3.

This is an excellent pick if you have a HDTV. It does what it says on the box & I was surprised between the difference from the RGB scart cable to the HD AV cable (ofcourse keeping in mind that HD graphics have a much higher resolution than standard).
There is a connection for an optical out which is useful, and the HD setting control on one side of the cable.

So to sum it up....don't think twice if yo have a HD capable TV!

This cable, as it specifies has a 5.1 optical output. If they stuck a cable on the end, it wouldn't be the right length or size for everyone. Plus most people that have already had surround sound for a while, already have several optical cables, and would be annoyed having to pay the extra for a useless extra cable.
