I pre-ordered this package and it arrived today. It does indeed come complete WITH wireless guitar. Definitely not a case of too good to be true, just excellent value. Thank you amazon.

5 out of 5 stars Best Guitar Hero yet   November 24, 2007

I'll keep this as concise as possible. Firstly, the Wireless Kramer guitar is worth it alone. No fancy ornamental design, just a straight-up, jet black guitar that, I feel, is more Metal than Rock. It really adds to the illusion. Some people have complained that it takes a while to get to the 'good' songs but that is what this series is all about. Obviously the songs that you know are the ones you look forward to playing virtually but, equally, the discovery of songs you didn't know about makes Guitar Hero just as exciting. My skill level so far doesn't extend beyond Medium difficulty and even then Metallica's 'One' and Slayer's 'Raining Blood' were causing chaos on my fingers. God only knows what Hard and Expert are like! Add the inclusion of the legendary Slash and Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine), who both composed brand new original pieces of music for the game, as Bosses who you have to out play in order to beat and you have the best Guitar Hero yet. If you love your Rock 'N' Roll and are remotely musically inclined, you'd be hard pushed to find better than this. You may even be inspired to pick up a real guitar afterwards!

3 out of 5 stars Good rhythn game but by no means perfect and pricey too!   November 27, 2007

For this review I'll be looking at the accessibility, price, controller and how much fun you can have with Guitar Hero 3.

Let's go:
This was my first experience of a Guitar Hero game and it wasn't what I expected. I thought this was aimed at the casual `non' gamer crowd like Sing Star and Dance Dance Revolution. But finishing this game requires the same obsessive determination and hours locked in your bedroom as it took to learn the special moves in Street Fighter 2 back in the day. No joke, I've been playing video games and a real guitar for longer then I care to admit and I find this game really hard (in easy mode!). It's certainly addictive and a lot of fun but families will be better off with the current kings of the casual game market: Wii Sports, Brain Training and Buzz.
Something that doesn't help and was moaned about by other reviewers are the songs. It says there are 70 on the box. But you'll find 42 listed and players must unlock the rest by getting high scores. When you start the game you'll find ....... only 8 songs available to play? WHAT?!
And guess what kids...that's right, I only knew 1 of them.
As the game is this hard I don't fancy my chances of seeing more songs any time soon. The game certainly isn't worth the asking price for only 8 songs and what are the chances of you and your loved ones getting bored with the same 8 songs within a relatively short period of time? I hope I get a lot better at this game some time soon.....
For my next gripe: the price.
Yes you get a wireless guitar controller in the box. But hang on, Sing Star, DDR, Buzz, Donkey Konga, that Sega fishing game.... all of those games shipped with a special controller in the box and cost a darn sight less then this. Bah.
The one aspect of Guitar Hero 3 that does not fail to impress is the wireless controller. It's a beaut', works perfectly and even comes with some stickers so you can customise it. I amused myself for hours just posing with the guitar controller and pretending to shred, long before I touched the game disk.
What about the fun? The game is a lot of fun. If you've honed your skills on previous guitar hero titles then get this. Anybody can have fun with the practise mode.... but the difficulty level of the actual game will ensure it has a short life span in a lot of homes.
In conclusion: This is a fun and addictive game but it's not up there with the best of the best in the rhythn gaming world. Gitaroo Man on the PS2 & PSP and Ouendan or Elite Beat Agents on the Nintendo DS are a lot more fun, easier to get into, more intuitive and at least half the price of Guitar Hero 3.
Ultimately Guitar Hero 3 isn't any more fun then a regualr game despite the fancy controller and matching price tag. So if your thinking of buying this you've got to ask yourself if it's worth the extra money. If you're a die-hard gamer who loves to play air guitar the answer should be an emphatic YES!
But this is certainly not for everybody.

I had never entertained the idea of getting 'Guitar Hero' because I can't play the guitar and assumed this was a necessary skill. Not so!

I finally got round to buying 'Guitar Hero III' this weekend, almost entirely because it has a cartoon picture of Slash on the box. The new wireless guitar is fairly easy to set up, and after a song or two, even non-guitarists like me get the hang of how to play the game. Being a guitarist may be a hinderance, if anything, as you don't necessarily play the notes when you think you 'should' (if you know the track) - you have to followup the coloured blobs on the screen. This meant my husband constantly missing notes because he was trying to play in time to the song, as ge would on his real guitar, but I didmuch better by just following the screen.

There are allegedly 70 tracks in this game, but when you first start off, you can only play 8 of them: You unlock more tracks by playing these 8. Beat Tom Morello in a noodley guitar solo 'play-off' and get a Rage against the machine bonus song; beat Slash, and get a bonus GnR track ('Welcome to the Jungle' \m/). You can also buy extra tracks with cash you earn while playing the game - I invested in the Stone Roses 'She bangs the drums'.

On 'easy', the tracks don't seem to get that much harder with each advancing level, there are just more of them. I was overjoyed to find that Sonic Youth' 'Kool thing' appeared as a playable song around level 5. I've already had a sneaky peek at other tracks which will become playable later, and canot wait for Metallica 'One'.

I think this may be harder than Guitar Hero II (which I also bought) - GH2 doesn't seem to mind if you miss notes, but GH3 plays a horrible 'donk!' noise and then goes silent for all the notes you missed. It becomes very obvious when you're playing badly

This game is a time hoover. I turned it on about 5pm, played "for half an hour" and realised it was half nine. It's great. Addictive, fun.. and for aging rockers like me, really nice to be be able to play along with some of me ol' faves. Buy eet!

5 out of 5 stars Warning: I have more to my life to Guitar Hero!!!!!   December 15, 2007

First of all most of the idiots below wine on about the poor quality graphics in this game. Considering the style of this game I can not think of a more irrelevant topic to argue. Seriously, all you need to do in this game is look at 5 different colours coming towards you. If you are really worried about graphics then stop being a tight fisted c*** any by yourself and X Box or a Playstation 3.

Secondly, the debate over whether this package comes with a guitar is really quite stupid. Anyone with a brain would realise that they are also selling the game for PS2 on its own for a lower price and therfore it obviuosly does include a wireless guitar. (the idiot who actually compalined to Amazon about the description of this product needs to get out more and maybe get laid)

Last of all, I am happy to say that this is a good game and is very addictive to play. However, if you find yourself spending too much time playing this game and completing some of the hardest songs on expert then maybe you should think about learning to play a real instrument and getting a life.

I hope this is helpful to everyone. It is a good game but ignore the idiots who have far too much free time and seem to take pride in writing these reviews.
