5 out of 5 stars Does exactly what it says on the tin!! - what more can I say?! Great!!   June 8, 2007

After reading a few reviews across the Internet, I was a bit hesitant whether or not to buy this as some people in forums reported faulty software and difficult connectivity to your computer. However, I went ahead and ordered off Amazon (great price and came like the next day, brilliant!), and was pleasantly surprised when it arrived - the action replay is just like inserting a game into your DS and prompts you to insert a game, after which you have the options of choosing from a list of codes specifically for that game. But what about new games out? Easy! A USB cable, supplied, connects to your computer and it is so so easy to update your codes list, using the supplied software!! Even on my slow modem connection it was pretty much instant!! Now I'm able to get past a bit I was stuck in in a game! So yeah I'd recommend this for anybody who, like me, gets frustrated when they get to a certain part in a game and cannot get past it, and desperately wants to get through the rest of the game! :)

3 out of 5 stars Useful, though occasionally annoying beyond belief...   August 15, 2007

Having read a couple of reviews, I was a touch hesitant about purchasing one of these, but went ahead and did it. I'm actually quite glad I did so, despite the hellish time I had getting the thing working.

Here's the rundown:

The manual is awful. Truly, unforgivably awful. It's partly incomprehensible, mainly as it gives menu names for functions when none are given on the system, and no pictures that link the what is actually happening. This makes it more than a little hard to follow.
The menus on the DS are graphical, and bear no relation to either the titles in the manual (no piccies in the manual showing "what's what" either) or their apparent function. It's like looking at wingdings font in shorthand. You do, on the other hand, get used to them.
The scroll function on the cheat list is slower than a sloth swimming in treacle.
The software is buggy, and maybe require you to spend upwards of two hours getting the thing to update your cheat list (as you are advised to do by the unforgivably awful manual).

However:

It works. Provided you have the patience to get it up and running in the first place, you'll be able to spend many happy hours cheating your way through your favourite games. Which is why I bought the thing in the first place.
There is a large selection of cheats online. Huge, in fact. Just ensure you delete the ones on the cartridge first, then upload fresh ones for games you want ONLY! Otherwise the first five minutes of use each time will be spent trawling through games you either don't own or have no interest in.

It's a little annoying to use, but hey, it does work (most of the time), and that's what matters. It's also probably the best known console cheating system out there, so you won't be running short on new cheats anytime soon. Bonus.

If you like to get the advantage on some of the most popular DS games, then this is just for you! This little cart is stuffed full of cheats is also upgradable and transfering cheats from their site is easy as pie use the cd rom that comes with it you'll se what I mean. I must stress that this cart is purely for EU based codes (unless you have a copy of a US game then the US codes can be used) picking the cheats could not be simpler, you just put the DS AR replay cart in, switch it on, then when it prompts you to remove the cheat cartridge click it out and slot your game in it's place. Choose the game click the asterisk choose what cheat and you're on your way!

Installed it OK but a key icon is missing from the DS screen. The instruction booklet is completely unintelligible to anyone without a degree in computer science. So unable to add any new codes manually.
