| Customer Reviews: UFC II - Ultimate Fighting Championship October 20, 2001 R. Middleton (UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
UFC II Fight Card: Royce Gracie (Ju Jitsu) Vs. Minoki Ichihara (Karate) Pat Smith (KickBoxing) Vs. Scott Morris (Ninjitsu) Jonny Rhodes (Karate) Vs. Fred Ettish (Karate) [Alternate] Orlando Weit (Maui Tai) Vs. Remco Pardueo (Ju Jitsu)A higher caliber of fighters than UFC I, makes for some exiting fights. Gracie is really at his best here and dominates like never before. UFC II has the most intense fight out of the UFC series. The Pat Smith (in tremendous shape!) Vs. Scott Morris fight really is something else. NOT for the faint hearted! UFC II has a very nice review of the arts mid way in to the video, which would give beginners a better insight in to the fighters' backgrounds. Unfortunately, Jim Brown (American Footballer) is still on the commentary team and spouts more nonsensical comments every time he opens his mouth. However to compensate, Big John McArthy is the referee and runs the fights a lot more professionally than the v. poor referee in UFC I, who didn't seem to understand the concept of a submission tap!! Overall a good video. Well worth the buy, whether you're buying as a collector, or purely out of interest. [Ref: http://www.ufc.tv/ ]
one of the best ever UFC's October 28, 2001 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is simply one of the best UFC's there has been. Pat smith v Scott morris involves one the most brutal beatings ever, the KO in the Remco Pardoel v Orlando Weit fight is top and unexpected + seeing "the master" Fred Ettish curl up in a ball while being beaten is worth the money alone!! + Royce is as good as ever...
Much better than UFC 1 October 5, 2000 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
UFC1 failed to deliver on its bromise but in part 2 we get some serious action. Pat Smith never got a chance to show his stuff in UFC1 as Shamrock had him grounded early on ...let Pat in against a stand up fighter and hes one to watch. This video is much better presented than part 1 and the fighting and fighters are of a much higher standard. The are some great knees, kicks and elbows to the head. Well worth getting.
Witness the survival of the fittest, and most adaptable. May 4, 2000 one-of-five@ekidman.freeserve.co.uk (LOndon, England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
At it's conception, it was a good premise, finally allowing martial artists who claimed superiority over others to settle it once and for all. It also allowed for the serious martial artist the chance to witness first-hand the value of adaptability and a more all-around approach toward combat, rather than the mire of traditionalism. However, by the second championship, it had all become pear-shaped, those who wanted to test themselves to the limit now entered solely for profit and/or revenge. Too commercial by this point, but still good reference for the strikers who wish to see the value of ground-work.
