Amazon.co.uk Review This horrible misfire from the usually reliable writer-director Andrew Bergman (The Freshman) has nothing funny, provocative, timely or interesting to say (despite being based on a novel by Carl Hiaasen) once Demi Moore gets her clothes off. Moore plays a single, unemployed mum caught up in a custody battle who elects to make some money by stripping at a club. The character's troubles don't end there, however: her ex-husband is posing a threat, and a perverted congressman (Burt Reynolds) is looking for more than a lap dance. Bergman's great wit is nowhere in sight, and the film primarily becomes another opportunity for Moore to function like a special effect. --Tom Keogh, Amazon.com

What was this film for?April 3, 2000 John P O'Connor 26 out of 40 found this review helpful
If anyone knows, please send me an email or something.
The scenario: Demi Moore takes her clothes off to earn money to support her daughter.
The plot: some half baked conspiracy twist not worthy even of Starsky and Hutch.
The acting and script: about level with that of Starsky and Hutch.
It was not interesting, there was no real suspense. It was most certainly not erotic or even slightly arousing and it wasn't funny either.

I never understood the poor reviews this film is getting. It must be snobbery. Obviously if a major star is near-nude in a film, she has "sold out".
I enjoyed the film. It is funny, and Demi looks great. Burt is excellent.
AwfulMarch 3, 2004 Primitivus(www) 4 out of 15 found this review helpful
I caught this film on television which was the only good thing about it: I didn't have to spend any money for it. A few minutes into the film I realised I shouldn't have spent any time on it either. I switched the telly off and did the washing up instead, which was much more fun. Boring and completely unoriginal story, bad (REALLY bad) performances, and unispired direction/storytelling. It wasn't even remotely sexy.

Boy I bet Demi Moore regrets making this film. What an awful story. A mother needs the money so has to do some stripping which she would rather not do (of course!) and we are there with cameras to see all the action of her dancing topless in a thong.
So I am supposed to feel so sorry for her and can find some empathy with her character. Yea right!!!! Burt Renolds is totally awful in this film. He should be retired. Permantely!
The whole film is a living joke. At least in Showgirls they didn't pretned they didn't enjoy it. People say that is a bad film - but this doesn't just take the biscuit - it takes the whole packet.
Avoide if you want to watch a decent film. Watch if you want to see Demi Moore make a fool of herself and have a laugh at her dancing topless.
