The first volume of a comedy classicMarch 4, 2000 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Take a trip down to Surbiton with the first ten episodes of Stella Street. This is one of the greatest comedy series of the 1990s. Stars Phil Cornwell and John Sessions as Al Pacino, Roger Moore, Joe Pesci, Michael Caine, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, John Hurt, Dirk Bogarde, David Bowie, Mrs Huggett and many others. You'll want to watch this one again and again. An absolute classic. Hoo har!
You really do have to see this!July 31, 2000 Mr. Thomas L. Wheatley(London) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This has to be one of the most original ideas for a telivision programme in the last 20 years. As soon as I saw the first episode I was hooked and you will be too.If you havent seen Stella Street watch it and If you have I'll presume that you already love it as much as I do.You'll be attempting to do the impressions for many years to come!
pure geniusMarch 8, 2007 graham_525 Stella Street is one of the best comedies from the last thirty years. It's also one the most underrated. The concept for the show is that famous celebrities such as Jack Nicholson, Michael Cain and The Rolling Stones all live in an unremarkable suburban street. All the parts are played brilliantly by Phil Cornwell and John Sessions and directed by the multi talented Peter Richardson. Phil Cornwell hosts the show as Michael Cain and John Sessions plays the char lady to the stars Mrs Huggat who is my personal favourite. Various ridiculous plots unfold which are accompanied by clips of the various characters talking to camera. This show is pure joy from start to finish. Any comedy which explores the possible effects class A drugs might have on Jimmy Hill has got to be watched and Mrs Huggats bizarre ramblings to camera are sublime comedy gold. Highly recommended viewing.
