Classic Crime Caper August 15, 2002 Darran O'Connor (Glasgow United Kingdom) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is probably the best Irish film ever made. Brendan Gleeson is brilliant as the bungling bunny (talking to his wife through the window as she hides from him with her legs quite visible, "Number 1, I can see ya, number 2 I know you're in there, number 3 I CAN SEE YA!!). Classic stuff, fantastic dialogue (but sure why wouldn't it be as Conor McPherson wrote it (Laurence Olivier award for his play The Weir) and all in all a great feel good film. Highly recommended, came out the same time as the full monty which for some reason went on to enjoy worldwide acclaim. This is vastly superior yet only achieved modest success, it's a funny old world....
very funny, slow to start with, but worth it in the end. November 30, 2001 sweettimefly@aol.com (u.k) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
A great irish film, very funny at times. I have whatched it 4 times and i love it. If u looking for a film to make u smile, buy this. Its worth it.
An absolute classic Brendan Gleeson film April 7, 2003 Niambh Scullion (Ireland) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a classic, Brendan Gleeson is absolutly fantastic in this film...I have been trying to buy this film for three years now...I need to see it again and again and again...this is a must buy...
Why isn't this on dvd? August 8, 2005 Martin Koolhoven (Amsterdam, Noord Holland Netherlands) Very nice film that for some reason is less known as it should be. Perhaps that is the reason this wonderful film hasn't come out on dvd yet.
I Went Down December 17, 2005 Derek O'Brien (Dublin, Ireland) One of the funnist films I have ever had the privilege of seeing (and I've seen a lot of films in my time). Brendan Gleeson & Peter McDonald are at their very best and work brilliantly on screen together. This film has it all - a great plot, lots of humour & a love scene. I would recommend this film to everyone (especially those who has a wicked scene of humour). Perhaps there could be a sequel???I have one big problem with this film - why isn't available on DVD? Can anyone answer this question???
