A tear-jerking, laugh a minute story of 3 women October 7, 2000 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
My favourite film of all time. The acting is fabulous. It has that rare ability to make you laugh and cry both at the same time. It's a modern Thelma and Louise, packed with girl power. The story of love, friendship, freedom and death will pull on your heart strings. It's wonderful- plain and simple.
brilliant September 8, 2006 RD 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I absolutely love this movie and have watched it several times over. The script is brilliant and you'll find yourself in fits of laughter quite often although be warned tissues may be needed too. Two women (Whoopi Goldberg and Mary-Louise Parker) agree to travel cross-country together even though they don't know each other in order to share the cost and for safety. On the way they acquire another member (Drew Barrymore) who is an old friend of Whoopi Goldberg's character. The three women are different in almost every way but soon become good friends sharing laughs and tears. A story about a journey of the heart, true friendship and the hardships it can conquer. Touching and absolutely hilarious this is a movie that should not be missed.
Love this film January 5, 2006 OneCatEvil (Swindon, Wiltshire United Kingdom) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Three women headed in the same direction, nothing in common really. It starts with a road trip but quickly develops as the three girls become close friends. There are a couple of twists - some you see coming and some you don't. The film is very funny and even though I've seen it about a billion times it still makes me giggle and cry. Whoopi Goldberg is on top form in this playing a semi serious charator. If you don't like this film you must be insane
Girlie-flick lovers need this film! October 28, 2003 Ms. S. Bailey (London, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I dont actually remember this film coming out and came across it pretty much by accident, but it immediately became my favourite film of all time! It's basically about a friendship that develops between three completely different women. A heartwarming story that's both funny and touching. Without giving away too much, it makes me laugh, plus I need a box of tissues every time I watch! Definately a must have for the lover of girlie films!
You Need it for the Soundtrack! June 17, 2002 1 out of 10 found this review helpful
Yah I just said it, you need this movie for its soundtrack, OMG, what a wonderful lineup! Bonnie Raitt, Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, Indigo Girls, Sarah McLachlan (oh YES, Sarah's cover for 'Ol'55'), The Cranberries, hah, and Whoopi Goldberg herself! I have no idea if all these people contributed for the soundtrack because it's got a lesbian theme or what, which is, actually a rather weak line; throughout, the story is kind weak and somewhat absurd, however, still quite watchable with the casting of Whoopi Goldberg and Drew Berrymore alike. Bottom line, I've bought this video and I'm gonna keep it!
