Paul Merton is, and always will be a comedy giant! October 8, 2005 Bookwormjo (London) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I remember this show being broadcast in the early mid-90s, anyway, I bought the VHS a while ago and let me tell you, it's fantastic! Absolutely and utterly surreal with hilarious imagery ("Mmy hair's gone completely out of control - I caught it driving a delivery van around London the other day, I wouldn't mind, but it's earning more than me!") I particularly love Merton's 'bloke in a kiosk' routines and the 'Paul Merton's guide to Hollywood' sketches. Buy it, watch it and I promise you won't be disappointed!

If you admire Paul Merton's brilliant wit then you MUST get this video. If only someone would bring it out in DVD format! A fan of HIGNFY, I browsed around Amazon to see if there was anything else he had done and discovered this gem. He is a master at this sort of comedy, and the video consists of a series of sketches,in which Paul plays such characters as a shop keeper in a kiosk, (hilarious) a policeman, an ice cream van salesman et al. I laughed until my sides ached. He excels at his dead-pan delivery of some of the funniest material I have ever had the pleasure to watch. Such catch phrases as "Innit marvellous" will remain forever in my vocabulary. I am in the process of ordering more copies for friends and family, so don't miss the chance to have this in your collection. I recommend it unreservedly if you need cheering up in a big way.
A Comic Genius? February 5, 2005 0 out of 17 found this review helpful
Paul Merton, as some will remember, had a series of surreal sketch shows on Channel 4 a few years back. Now more well known for his sterling work in mocking almost everyone on 'Have I Got News For You' (he didn't mock Paula Yates though I was behind Ian on that show) this is not to be missed for Paul's fans, even if, like me, you feel he is at his best when thinking on his feet (or backside) on unscripted panel shows or on stage. If you are reading this Paul, two tickets please for a full review. Only joking. (Or am I?)
