DVD verison April 13, 2005 21 out of 22 found this review helpful
Firstly, this is a great film for people of any age, but this is not the main purpose of this review. I have read many reviews asking for a DVD version, so I think I might be able to help. There are loads of people on Ebay selling Flight of Dragons on a DVD for ~ 10 (inc. UK delivery). The one I bought was from Singapore, but is perfect. No Chinese labels, subtitles of the like, just the movie on a DVD. Since it is VERY unlikely that it will ever be officially released on DVD, this is probably the best option. TTFN

I first saw this film in the mid to late 80's. Having always had a vividly active imagination, especially as a child, I was absolutely captivated by the story. The classic struggle between Good and Evil was brought to life with wonderful animation (considering the technology available at the time it was made) and kept me amused for hours. I forgot all about the film as I grew older until my little brother returned home with a copy one day, about 2 years ago, that he'd bought for a snip. Think he paid somewhere in the region of 7 for it. It is interesting to see the price that it's going for now.If you are at all interested in Fantasy then this film is an absolute must-see.
I want the DVD! July 17, 2004 No Quarter (Lancs, England) 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
Sadly I only have an old video of 'Flight Of Dragons' taped from the TV, but it doesn't stop me enjoying it time after time. It's surely one of the finest animated films in existence. Anyone who's interested in fantasy - good against evil, wizards, quests and, of course, dragons will lap this up!It's made by the same people who did 'The Hobbit' and 'The Last Unicorn' films and, even though they're also great, 'Dragons' in my view is much better! In fact, I can't think of a better cartoon film. I am looking forward to a DVD release (surely this HAS to happen!) or maybe even a live-action remake of the story - The Last Unicorn is being done at the moment. With the popularity of Lord Of The Rings, this is the perfect time for 'The Flight Of Dragons' to emerge again!
A must have film for everybody September 21, 2005 Enrique Ovidio Carro Rey 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
I think it was three times in a row. I was a ten-years-old child when I saw this for the first time, and once it ended I had to rewind and watch it again, and again. Three times in a row (maybe four, I don't remember exactly). I thought it was the best film I had seen in my still short life, alongside The Empire Strikes Back. Years later I saw it again and I wasn't at all disappointed: This film stands the test of time perfectly well. Technically it can't stand comparison to Shrek, The Incredibles or The Lion King, but this tale of magic, fantasy, dragons, bad and good wizards has everything to catch you forever, like The Lord of the Rings. The story is really good, it has several strokes of really funny humour, adventures, and epic battles (who can resist that last speech from the knight when he's facing Briagg without a lump in the throat? Not me, certainly). It has besides an appalling performance from James Earl Jones, it reminds me of his awesome work in Star Wars, really. I simply love this movie. And yes, I'm saying it too: I NEED THE DVD!!
A piece of my childhood May 9, 2005 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
The best film ever made! Beautifully animated, colourfully voiced and a rivetingly fast storyline. Everyone must own this.I must have seen this film a hundred times and I still watch it and enjoy it every time. There are just so many scenes etched on my memory: Gorbash's chase of Brioc, the sand rats, the worm of sligoth, smurgle's fight with the ogre of gormlry keep, the battle between Sir Orin Neville Smythe and Brioc and of course the final battle with Omadon. There is so much more to this film, and any fan of fantasy will love it. This is a film you can not help but fall in love with, for what other reason would someone like James Earl Jones or Don Maclean be involved in such an obscure film? The only reason they would is that they swa what everyone who watched this film sees....animation at its very best, story telling of the very highest order. Anyone who sees this film will fall in love with it instantly and it will be seared across theconciousness forever. You'll heart will sing and your imagination will be set free in a way no other film will ever manage. This really is the most beautiful film I have ever seen and you should too
