Great for babies and their Mums! October 2, 2006 joc66 (United Kingdom) 38 out of 38 found this review helpful
This is a great toy! I was hesitant about buying it because it is quite expensive, but I've had other things from Leapfrog and always been pleased, so decided to give it a whirl. I'm so glad I did. I got it when my baby was five months old and could hold his head up confidently, and according to the packaging, it's supposed to be suitable until he can walk unaided. Babies at this stage can get frustrated because they can't move around as much as they would like, and the Learn and Groove has definitely helped to ease some of that frustration. The Learn and Groove consists of a padded, washable seat which clips onto the large sturdy plastic frame. It's quite easy to put together out of the box, and you can fold it fairly flat for storage if you need to, although to be honest I don't bother because we use it regularly. There are three different heights so you can adjust it as the baby grows. Unlike a baby walker which can be dangerous as baby shoots across the room, the Learn and Groove doesn't move, although baby can turn 360 degrees in using his feet. As he turns, he sees a different activity to grab his attention. There are five activities in total. *Numbered keys from 1 to 5 which light up when pressed *A book which a page that turns (turning the page puts the Learn and Groove into a different mode) *A mirror ball *A microphone *A turnable Each of these things makes a noise/plays a tune depending on which mode the Learn and Groove is in. The noises/tunes are quite pleasant, including what is described as a motown style alphabet song, and the voices are English rather than American. Leapfrog seem to have got their research just right with this toy because my baby boy absolutely loves being in his Learn and Groove, jiggling about, spinning round and fiddling with the toys. For me, it's a godsend because I can put him in it, and have my hands free to cook, wash the clothes etc, and because it's easily portable, it can be moved from room to room, so he's always with me. I'd say he's happy to sit in it for 20-30 minutes at a time before he gets tired, and he'll do this several times a day. I ordered this from Amazon on the free supersaver delivery, and it came really quickly. The bottom line, I'd say buy one for a baby as soon as they can hold their head up. You won't regret it!
Fab Fun October 22, 2006 N. L. Russen (Norwich UK) 24 out of 24 found this review helpful
We bought this and were very hesiatant due to the price but it has been of exceptional help to us as our baby has been ill since he has been born he has recently been diagnosed with reflux. This toy has helped immensely as it keeps him upright, we didnt know this at the time of buying it but it would help our son.It is absolutely fabulous with the three height settings we bought this when dylan was five months he is now only 16lbs and is 9 months old so he has had a lot of use out of this and will continue to do so until he is 85cms.He generally goes in it three times a day when I make meals and is in there for at least 30 minutes and he is happy for all that time whizzing bouncing and babbling to himself. The book on the toy changes the saying of the microphone. He absolutely loves pulling the record deck and watch it spin and sing he constantly pulls at the microphone and especially likes the saying sing it baby.He loves bouncing up and down and hitting the keys of the piano and watching himself in the glitter ball, he is vain though.Your child will learn opposites, numbers, counting and the alphabet. The seat can also rotate but can also be in one place if you wish. The seat is easily washable and does not shrink in the wash due to dylan's illness it has been washed hundreds of times and there is no colour variation from the day we got it.It is easily transportable from room to room and I take it to my mums, it easily goes in her car and she has a small rover. This is an absolute delight for a baby I just wish I had bought it sooner.
Very worthwhile buying this, it can break though. July 27, 2007 David Cadman (Manchester, UK) 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
I got one of these a few weeks ago for my twin girls, the sounds, variety and support it provides is great. They can happily stand up for quite a while, and the support this toy gives them has certainly improved their unaided standing ability too. My only critisism is that the microphone (which the kids love buy the way) has already pulled out of it's seating, and as my girls love nothing more than throwing things around the room it can be a little bit of a liability. For the money it cost, I would have expected a little more wear before we had a breakage especially as everything else about it is very good.
A sanity saver October 23, 2007 Jacqueline (St Albans, UK) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
As a first time mother with an infant who wanted to walk and was uninterested in crawling this was truly a sanity saver. Of all the many toys and 'things' he had to play with this was by far the one he and I enjoyed the most. He loved the lights, buttons and music - two sound levels, so quiter when you need and louder if you're in the shower so they're still entertained and safe! He loved bouncing up and down and the freedom to turn himself around; I think it was a real confidence boost to feel able to manage himself in his immediate environment. Value for money? Well it was definitely the most expensive on the market at the time, but I would have bought it many times over. When older children came over, they were fascinated. He sat safely in the middle and they could walk around the outside and play with it too. Since he's outgrown it (that was a hard day!)both our next-door neighbour and now nephew have enjoyed it. Our son's now nearly three and his face still lights up when he sees it - the challenge is to stop him from climbing in. It was nicknamed the 'Playstation' in our house and it was a sad day when we decided he's outgrown it, because he still wanted to play with it. This was one of the very best purchases we made. Thank you Leapfrog!
Best thing since sliced bread........ September 26, 2007 J. Creasey (UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
My son has really enjoyed playing in this ever since we got it. We were so impressed by it we bought one for our friend's baby who also loves it. However, she has managed to break a number of the panels on the activity station. So I wouldn't recommend this toy if your baby is very boisterous. Otherwise, for my baby it's been one of the best toys we've bought him.
