Draper Best For Tools May 13, 2004 Mikey (Stockport, Cheshire United Kingdom) 91 out of 92 found this review helpful
I bought this drill because of the brand, Draper is one of the best tool manufacturers around and have been producing good power tools for years. The drill has a 3-5 hour charge but once charged it holds the charge really well. This tool is really well balanced and does not feel heavy on the arm at all. The range of torques on the drill is 17 and offers enough for nearly all jobs. The Keyless chuck is smooth, quick and efficient. Included in the box is the drill, 14.4v Battery, the charger, and two double-ended screwdriver bits. Drilling capacities: Mild steel ... 10mm Wood ... 20mm Speed no load ... 0-550rpm Chuck capacity ... 10mm Pros: Well Balanced, Efficient Keyless Chuck, Good Value For Money, Holds Charge Well. Cons: Comes With No Drill Bits, Comes With No Carry Case. I've used this drill many times on a variety of materials and have found it to have more than enough power for the average handyman. I advise you use the lower speed for driving screws and the higher speed for drilling. This drill will last for years and replacement batteries are the average cost as other well known brands. For value for money and ability then look no further than this drill and the quality name of Draper.
Functional and powerful September 29, 2007 Nickel (Kent, England) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
For the money, this is difficult to fault. I use it for all those outside jobs that a corded drill cannot do - fence posts, gates, etc. but the absence of a cord also makes it easier for inside assembly jobs. The torque adjustment and keyless chuck is simple and quick. I read somewhere that motors on DIY power tools are rated to about 10 hours. I've probably used on about 50 ocasions in the last year, for maybe 15 minutes a time. It's still working, and I have no complaints. A deservied 5 stars.
No better than average September 3, 2006 CE (London) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have found this drill to be little more than a convenient way of drilling pilot holes for screws. It has enough power to drill into wood, but really struggles with metals, having only a maximum speed of 550 rpm. For the price it is nice enough, but there are better cordless screwdrivers (Bosch ixo, for instance) and considerably better cordless drills, though you do need to spend good money on the latter.
