I got one of these and advise
a) Have a perfectly flat wall of modern block or brick, this sort of design doesn't like unevenness
b) Have absolutely 100% great fixings into that wall, ie a modern block or brick wall of even consistency. If like me you have an old stone wall and one of the fixings goes into a softer spot so isn't as great as the others, you're in for frustration and redrilling over and over again, because the fixing plate is so small the weight is all on a small area
c) Don't load a long or heavy duty hose on these, they do put a great strain on the arm. I didn't go over the length it was rated for, but suspect that rating is done with the lightest, thinnest hose on the market. It complains with a heavy hose.
d) If you live near the coast, bite the bullet and shell out for an aluminium one. Near the sea, it rusted in moderately short order, like any steel.
That said, the joints are certainly a LOT less leak prone than the plastic reels, so if you don't have my limitations, this cures one frustration..
