5 out of 5 stars A Great Exercise Tool   October 30, 2004

I have wanted to get a pedometer for a long while and am glad to say that I bought this great little gadget which has completely turned around my attitude towards exercise.

From inserting the battery it asks for the time, your weight, and then your stride length (which it explains how to calculate) and then you're ready to start walking! It comes with a belt attachment and a strap which makes carrying it a lot easier. Over the course of the day it records how many steps you have made, calculates how many calories you will have burned from these steps and even calculates an estimate of how far you are liable to have walked. Once it reaches midnight on the built-in clock your daily exertions are reset and your activities are stored on a 7-day memory. Stunning!

My one and only criticism is that if you happen to travel in the car whilst carrying it, the occasional bumps can add to your readout, and since it can't be turned off this can be a tiny problem.

Otherwise this pedometer is fantastic. Great value for money, it is small and compact but most important of all its been motivating me to walk more and more each and every day.

3 out of 5 stars BEWARE - THIS IS NOT A PEDOMETER!   August 3, 2006

The Omron is a perfectly good step counter - but having bought one, I find it is NOT a pedometer!

What is the difference? First, it cannot be reset. It resets itself to zero at midnight every night - but you can't reset it yourself, except by poking a pen into a little hole in the back - which resets everything, including memory, stride length and time/date... So if you want to find out how far a specific walk is, you have to note the distance at start and deduct it at the end. And you get no walk-specific information whatsoever about time, distance or speed.

Also, it works only in km, so a further calculation is required if you want miles.

As a daily step counter it is fine, well made and accurate so far as I can tell. But it fails as a pedometer, and I feel the product description is misleading in calling it one and failing to mention that it won't do miles..

5 out of 5 stars Excellent piece of kit - well worth the money   February 23, 2005

I bought this in the usual post Christmas flush of new resolutions and its really helped me to get an idea of how little exercise I was doing. Its got to the stage now where the poor dog has to walk further at night because the Step track pro says I'm just 500 steps short of the 10,000 taget for the day. The steps count function is great in that you do not need to worry about calibrating stride length for that to be worth knowing. If you calibrate the device for your stride length then you get the details on how far you've walked.
The best bit for me is that I just put it in my pocket and forget about it.
You can recall the last seven days activity as well and thats good in that I saw that at the weekends I was more active (as you'd suspect) and where I needed to change my routine to make the target on the weekdays.
Great device with practical usage - but be warned ! You will become obsessive about your step count!!

After buying numerous other unreliable pedometers in the past i bought this one after reading the reviews on amazon. What i like best about it, is the simple fact it counts your steps accurateley, you are able to have it clipped inside your pocket(hidden from view) or simply as i do place it in my work apron pocket and it continues to count your steps accurately throughout the day. It automatically starts again the next day while recording up to 7 days worth of steps so you can monitor your progress.Absoluteley worth every penny,. (easy to set up also)

This is the third pedometer that I have bought and is easily the best. The set up instructions are clear and the display is easy on the eye. The pedometer itself is sturdy and I like the fact that you don't have to wear it on a belt, but can just place it in your pocket.

The only downside for me is that I would prefer the distance to be displayed in miles rather than kilometers but that is probably just a personal preference. I find that you need to walk briskly for at least an hour, plus your usual every day walking, if you are going to get near the 10,000 steps recommended.

As long as you don't get too obsessive about the daily results, then it's a useful gadget and an entertaing and instructive one too.
