Don,t upgrade February 7, 2008 David Bonnefin (UK) 20 out of 20 found this review helpful
What ever you do don't up grade to 2008 unless you have to. We upgraded in Oct 2007 and because of VAT issues (Intuit said there were non) we carried on having to use 2005, this was Inuit's suggestion then as 2005 was no longer supported they sent us for free a 2006 upgrade. During January there was a patch issued, R3, which enabled us to us 2008 version, great! Then we discovered that templates were not transferable to the upgraded version, rewrite all our templates, as they're quite complex, 2 days work then discovered on delivery notes and quotations no matter what you do the vat rate is always listed. I could go on and on about other issues, such as not being able to reconcile in chronological order etc. Our only answer is to switch back to using the old unsupported version and use other software for PAYE or swich to Sage on our new financial year. When we used 2005 I would and did recommend Quickbooks but not now, so if you want stress free accounting don't up grade to 2008.
Appaling Customer Support February 6, 2008 Vadim (Surrey, UK) 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
Totally agree with the previous reviewer. Upgrade is everything but painless. I was using QuickBooks Pro since 2004. Upgraded to 2008 back in November 2007 and up to now having problems with VAT return. Yesterday updated to R3 and ... new bunch of problems with VAT. Customer support is appalling - never call you back, every time it's a different technician and you have to start from scratch. Customer Service can't be called service - it's a Customer Nightmare.
Terrible customer support for a terrible product. February 11, 2008 Dave (Billingshurst) 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
Quickbooks Pro 2008 does not calculate VAT totals correctly. Example: If you enter a sales receipt with one item costing 2.45 including VAT QB Pro 2008 calculates the total as 2.46! Contacted Intuit support about this issue and was told that the problem would only be addressed if enough customers complained! Five months later, a major update has just been installed and still no fix for this fundamental problem. Have sent my copy back to Intuit for a refund.
Don't buy it February 20, 2008 A. Jolly (England) 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
Do not buy 2008 version. Ring Intuit and buy the 2006 version - tell them you want multi-currency and they'll have to sell it to you because 2008 doesn't (nor does it calculate VAT correctly).
Stupid and arrogant April 7, 2008 Christopher Payne (UK) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Forced to upgrade from 06 as non supported payroll and assumed all would be fine. Programme really slows down your systems - very memory intensive. Lots of glitches - it error reports you classes are not entered when they are, VAT doesn't get transferred over from old programme to next (detail is left on old version and you have to keep this on old computer too.) The list goes on and on - it is just not any better - BUT MUCH WORST!A few have suggested keeping the old version - fine if you don't run payroll - if you do you HAVE to upgrade or you are running 2 accounting packages that are not related / integrated. The fact that the new upgrade/ patches do not address these issues and it was released too early suggests a company that is at best stupid and at worst arrogant - do these people not realise that businesses are relying on this package to be accurate and stable? Some have mentioned transferring to another package - massive upheaval / learning process! IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT AN ACCOUNTING PACKAGE FIRST TIME OUT - THINK SAGE! IF YOU ARE AN EXISTING USER - THINK PUTTING YOUR HEAD IN THE OVEN.
