Excellent results with no experience needed November 15, 2006 Book Lover (UK) 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
Just built one this weekend and am very pleased. Its looks much more professional than the last build your own website company I used, which was double the price, plenty of options and extras to play with and very easy to use. There is even an online forum to talk to other web builders. You can keep it quite simple using their templates or if confident design your own and you can update it whenever you want. I think it's a bargain price! I'm going to buy another one to forward my other site to as it now pales in comparison. Highly recommended
Mr Rite! November 8, 2006 Peter Parker (New York) 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
This is brilliant, really easy to use. My website looks great and professional. Not the cut and paste, boil in the bag look I was fearing. I love it and would recommend it to anyone. S
Simple, flexible and professional October 16, 2006 Alice Kane (Cheshire, England) 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
We came across the mr site website last year when our interior design company in Cheshire had just begun. We found the package was easy to use and produced professional looking results in no time at all. It allows us to constantly update the content and track the number of people who visit the site which is currently over 300 visitors a week. The business has just expanded to the west midlands region due to our continuing success and mr site has allowed us to change and adapt accordingly. [...] A definite recommendation, [...]
Ok for VERY basic sites April 10, 2007 Neil (West Sussex, UK) 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
If you want a very basic site this is very easy to use and works well. If you want to do anything other than post some text on a site it probably isn't for you. There also seems to be no method for users of your site to add their own content and for you to administer it. The backgrounds are also limited and some of the text fonts offered don't seem to work. Btw, you are NOT buying software here. All you get is box with a manual and a card with an access code. All the "software" is on-line. Like I say, very good for VERY simple sites like blog sites. If you want anything more complicated than a blog site then look elsewhere.
More or less a con September 19, 2007 D. Maceoin (UK) 12 out of 17 found this review helpful
I'm quite computer literate, I handle Word and PowerPoint with a measure of skill, and I can do lots of other things on my Mac. This has me stumped. I'm on my fourth day, trying to build a site for my wife, and it just isn't working well at all. For one thing, I had expected something that would allow me to see what I was doing as I worked, a programme that would let me make changes and see them applied immediately. Instead, I have to work blind on a blank piece of screen, guessing what the finished result will be, and when I finally look it's almost never what I expected. Then I have to close down and open it up again. The instruction manual is very badly written, and it simply doesn't correspond a lot of the time with what actually appears on the screen, often for major items. Uploading images isn't easy, and once they are in place you can't move them. As far as I can see, it's not possible to do simple things like getting text to wrap round images. There's an inherent clumsiness about it all that reminds me of some bad software I encountered years ago. I know the price is wonderfully low, but I'd have been willing to pay more for a smoother programme, and to have proper facilities for things like animation. The page designs are not particularly inspiring, and the backgrounds either sit behind them or jump in front, making text illegible. No doubt there are technical reasons for all this (though I can't see for a moment why the manual and the software can't match up), but they don't excuse what is really something of a con. The propaganda makes it sound invitingly easy, website building for dummies. I have five degrees, including a PhD, so I'm not exactly a dummy, but I do find this frustrating. And I can't see that the finished result, should I get there, is going to be exactly overwhelming. I'm most disgruntled. If you buy it, don't expect magic.
