Ideal for the novice December 1, 2006 P. Carpenter 41 out of 41 found this review helpful
I spent ages researching ways of getting VHS onto my hard drive and this software seemed the most appropriate, hassle-free way. It's very easy to use but make sure you buy this Deluxe version, as it includes the essential TV Capture Device & cables - the basic version is just the software. My only gripe - the quality does suffer a bit (not much though) but I have nothing to compare it to so this may well be normal for this kind of process. This is the reason I haven't given it the full 5 stars, otherwise I would have. For the novice it's ideal, the quality issue would make it not so good for the pro.
DID NOT FUNCTION CORRECTLY. August 19, 2007 George Hardisty (U.K.) 30 out of 30 found this review helpful
I purchased this product in the hope of transferring VHS video's to DVD. I selected it due to some feedback I had read about it. However after installing the software, following the instructions to the limit, I found the quality of both the video and audio transferred to the dvd left a lot to be desired, and were NOT as good as the vhs video. After transfer, both the audio and video on the dvd was very distorted. However the biggest trouble I had with this product was after using the product, I would switch off my computer system, and when I returned to my computer system the next day, the software did not recognise the video capture device, and only after uninstalling the software, and reinstalling it, could I get the software to recognise the video capture device. Each time I attempted to use this product, after my system had been switched off, I had to uninstall the software and reinstall it again, in order that it would recognise the Video capture device. A patch for this product was downloaded from its manufacturers website, but it made no difference at all. I then attempted to contact the manufacturers on their website, several times, but found this impossible, so returned the product to Amazon. This is NOT a reflection on Amazon.co.uk who could NOT have been more helpful, and reimbursed me with the cost of the product when I returned it.
Simple and effective July 11, 2007 Chico (UK) 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
I have been looking around for some time for a way of transferring videos of the kids onto DVD, before the videos get lost or broken! I read the other reviews of this product, which were very helpful, and decided that this was the way to go. Installation was easy, good user guide, and within half an hour I was ready to go. You may need some extra leads to connect your VCR to the capture device, I needed to get a 3x Phono to 3x Phono Video & Stereo Audio Cable and a scart adaptor. I found this software very easy to use, it transferred the VHS to DVD really well, and using DVD+R discs, they play in all of our DVD players. If you are looking for an easy way to transfer your old VHS to DVD, this is the one.
VHS to DVD 2.0 Deluxe that would not work July 27, 2007 Mr. Michael Hill (Birmingham) 16 out of 17 found this review helpful
Wanting to copy my VHS videos to DVD, this seemed the logical choice. However, after installing it, which went ok, I could not get it to run past the opening dialog box. Well, it continued to run according to Windows Task Manager, but nothing happened. Then I went to the manufacturers website and downloaded updates and patches that were there. Still nothing. Finally, I tried it on my laptop, it could have been my PC's fault though other recent software worked ok. When installed and running, it went past where I had got on the other PC, but would not recognise my VCR. 4 hours and many inputs of the Product Code into a very unstable website later, I returned it to Amazon. Finally, all credit to Amazon.co.uk, their Returns System works a treat. Now I must look for another product to do the job.
The best software I ever bought May 30, 2007 Mr. David A. Mclean (UK) 15 out of 16 found this review helpful
Boy, I love this new toy! I've been meaning to get around to this for a long, long time; I can't believe how easy it is with this software. Sure you can spend hours editing and creating great DVDs but if you just got back from holiday and want to send the folks a DVD of the kids on the beach this is what you need. I'm very busy, but within 1 hour of the postman droping this off I was watching my first DVD. IMHO the quality is excellent - just as good as the VHS as far as I can see. I'm a software project manager and I can see why this has won the prizes it has.
