Disappointing product October 22, 2008 kehs (Hertfordshire, England) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I spent hours trying to get this programme to do what it promises but got nowhere. It drove me insane and nearly caused a huge row when for a moment or two it appeared to have caused me to lose my daughter's whole iPod library. The worst software I have ever tried to use and I definitely do not recommend it.

Don't waste your money September 28, 2008 R. Dearden (Scotland) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
The box clearly states "easily convert your DVDs..." but it does not do it. As soon as you load the software it tells you that it will not convert any copy protected DVD content, and that means virtually everything you would ever want to watch. Could not get any function to work from any format. Even the uninstall program does not work properly.
Sync Problems - Fatal Flaw October 19, 2008 Peri Urban (Scotland) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
At the time of writing this product is not even listed on x-oom's own web pages, leading me to suspect that perhaps the amazon vine program is being used as some kind of pre-release late beta test. Whatever. I am not particularly interested in converting DVDs to my iPod, but I did want to download YouTube clips and convert my own videos. I like the idea of carrying around a small library of clips. This program will download the clips from YouTube (and a number of other video sharing sites), and it will easily convert your own files. But the audio/video sync on the conversions is lost, rendering the whole process redundant. Furthermore, to get the converted videos onto the iPod you still have to launch iTunes and tell it to look in the appropriate folder, even though this program launches iTunes and has it running in parallel. As if that wasn't enough of a waste of time after running this program iTunes refuses to start on it's own. I had to uninstall the program and re-boot before I could get back into iTunes, at which point it became clear that the program had fiddled with my iTunes settings, which iTunes then had to restore. Anyone who makes a program that threatens my 100gb music library is no friend of mine. To summarise *the program does not deal with copyrighted DVDs. *audio sync is lost in conversion. *it messes with iTunes. *you still need to use iTunes to get the files onto your iPod. *you still need to tell iTunes where to look. *it does nothing useful that cannot be obtained for free elsewhere. This is what I call promiseware. (For the record, I was using an up to date version of XP and iTunes.)

Lets start off with my real problem with this program. This product cannot copy protected DVD's, which encompasses pretty much every store-bought DVD. The only way to do this would be to use some form of decoder first to backup your DVD, however, the laws about doing this are a bit dodgy and would advise against it, so that's probably the biggest reason for getting this product thrown out of the window! So, after a painful install on my Vista machine i started up the program. A message came up saying there was an update, so i clicked update and what a surprise, "error on update server". With DVD's (apart from home-recorded ones) out of the window, i checked out what this thing was like converting video files, and after numerous freezings, managed to get it to work. The conversion time was no better than that of a program like PSP Video 9 which can also be used to convert videos to a format that the iPod can play and is free. Overall, i would not advise this program.
