I'm impressed by AVG. I bought their Internet Security Home Edition version 7.5 in September 2007. I called their UK Helpline (0844 894 1000) today, and was told that I could upgrade for free to their recently-launched version 8.

I downloaded the update from www.avg.co.uk/download and soon had the new version installed (it detected I already had version 7.5). I am currently running the system scan which seems to be several times faster than 7.5.

Of course, the ultimate solution is to buy a Mac which doesn't need anti-virus software, but if, like me, you still have a couple of Windows PCs you want to keep running, I recommend AVG. Their products seem good, and their service reasonable.

5 out of 5 stars Soooo Much Nicer than 7.5   May 3, 2008

I just bought 7.5 from Amazon and a few days later noticed that 8.0 was available. As the other reviews said, the upgrade to v8.0 was free! Just follow the link from the Help button in 7.5 and plug in your old licence number to get a new one.

Upgrade went smoothly on my Vista laptop. I had one failed installation on the XP desktop. After disabling 7.5, the installation wizard carried on successfully, removing 7.5 and installing 8.0 without a glitch.

It's soooo much better looking than 7.5. It looks modern and modular, not clunky and amateurish like previous AVG versions. It also reads across all the settings (schedules etc.) over all pc users rather than having to set them individually in each user account.

It looks great. Hopefully it'll do it's jo well too.

I've been a ZoneAlarm Security Suite user for years but have become increasingly disillusioned with their licensing costs and support. ZA used to be a highly intuitive firewall but is less so these days.

I have used AVG Free before now and found it a bit clunky (although it did the business). This new version from AVG is much better however, virtually self configuring and passes all the tests at Gibson Research to the same standard as ZA did so I'm pretty happy with it.

Certainly good value for the three PC, two year license.

I bought a licence from AVG two years ago, for the first two years everything went well and it did what it said nothing was better then recently the computer was attacked with 2000 viruses in one night, yes thats right 2000 viruses and what did my wonderfull AVG do, do Nothing at all. It allowed the viruses on to the machine until the machine shut down and this took seconds.

WHAT DO I NOW THINK OF AVG, EASY ON VIRUSES TOUGH ON YOU
