I owe my life to this anti-virus. December 23, 2007 K. A. French (Uk. England) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I bought a new laptop (a lovely Toshiba worth a lot of money) After seeing that on the box it said norton security on the box i uninstalled it striaght away because i and many other people have had problems with norton internet security, many people think its a virus itself once its istalled you cant get rid of it. Anyway, i bought this bullguard from ebay and i didnt know version 8 hadnt been released yet. All went well it was protecting my pc in mins. I went to look up cheats for railroad tycoon 3 on a dodgy site and when i closed the internet explorer window bullgaurd popped up saying it had installed i virus on one of my files. After paying a lot of money for this laptop im so glad it found it striaght away instead of leaving it in the pc for days i couldnt get rid of the virus until i done a scan and it found it striaght away. Thanks god its gone. And thanks bullguard.
Much better than v. 7 January 2, 2008 Mr. J. Ward (Leeds, UK) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Version 8 of Bullguard is even better than the previous, it is more informative than the previous program, and with more online backup space it is also more useful. The main advantage of bullguard is the customer support which is much better than Norton & McAfee - it only takes one hour to get a reply compared to 24 hours from most other suppliers.
Windows Vista came to a standstill June 4, 2008 Petra (UK) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
It works really well with Windows XP, but as soon as I installed it on my new Windows Vista PC, nothing worked anymore. The whole computer freezes up. Upon restarting the computer and uninstalling Bullguard Version 8 (previous versions did not work with Vista at all I believe) computer works fine again. Tried this several times and decided to look for a different Virus Package.Did a search on the internet to see if anyone else had a problem and it seems I am not alone!
WARNING!! March 13, 2008 John Cruet (Wiltshire) 3 out of 7 found this review helpful
This product has no redeeming features except the good looking box. I had a trial CA product on my computer, when I tried to order this online their ordering process tried to trick me into buying more expensive products, so I put Bullguard on my computer. Everything has all but ground to a standstill. I have torn my hair out waiting for applications to open and close, for emails to download, open or delete. NOTHING ON MY COMPUTER WORKS PROPERLY ANYMORE. I have to close the computer down using the off button several times a day, even my printer and modem have become a problem!!!!! When I turned all the Bullguard applications off everything started working perfectly. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!!!!
The Perfect Guard Dog For Your PC August 3, 2008 Michael Jones (Honiton, Devon) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Having put the safety of my PCs in the hands of Norton for some years I was intrigued to find out how Bullguard would compare. I am currently running XP as my operating system and have two computers a Desktop PC and a Laptop and this is where the software scores it's first points. A single purchase of Bullguard 8.0 offers a licence for the user to protect up to 3 computers. Installation was quick and easy and once installed the interface is simple, clear and looks every bit as professional, (if not more so), than other high end anti virus packages. You are presented with a welcome pane with a series of icons running down the left hand side, these are; Main Antivirus Antispyware Firewall Spamfilter Backup Support Across the top of the pain are 3 tabs; Overview Account Settings Everything does exactly what it says on the tab and it's as simple as that. Features Bullguard offers Automatic Updates and on default settings this occurs every time you connect to the internet and informs you with a small pop up in the task bar. Virus alerts will pop up every time a virus tries to attack your PC and informs you of exactly what the virus was. The software offers an option for you to disable the pop up and Bullguard will continue to work without disturbing you. Bullguards Firewall Settings allow you to be notified everytime an application tries to access the internet (helpful for detcting Trojans. In the Firewall Rules you can easily teach Bullguard what applications are allowed to access the internet without being challenged. The antivirus and antispyware is constantly working without seeming to effect my computers performances and while there is not much comparison to be made between Bullguard and it's competitors here, I have noticed a vast reduction in unwanted emails already. Where the antivirus really shone for me was when I attempted a full system scan. I ran one of these soon after intstalling the programme and Bullguard found 6 infected files including 2 trojans lurking on my laptop. The infected files were quarantined and then disposed of. It's also worth noting that a full system scan with Bullguard took only 43 minutes where my previuos antivirus took anywhere in the region of 2 -3 hours!!! This package also comes with 5GB of online drive space for backing up essential files in case of theft or damage to your PC. The backing up of files takes place on default settings whilst your PC is standing idle.Options do exist to change the timing of this and additionally iles can be backed up manually. Online back up is fuly encrypted and flies can be accessed by you from any PC via your Bullguard account. The 5GB space is also upgradable to whatever size you need. Bullguard also offers 24 hour support both online and on the phone and though I have had no problems yet I called them with a pretendin to have a problem and they offered advice quickly and concisely in terms I understood. Bullguard also offer a monthly enewsletter offering interesting articles and news of any current online threats and scams. I have been very impressed with Bullguard so far. Since the removal of my previous software and the installation of Bullguard I have notice better internet performance bot on connection and refresh times. Bullguards pop up system only occurs when it needs to and does not have the result of completely freezing up my system. I consider this package to be great value for money and an excellent alternative to any of the other high end packages and I sleep easier at night nowing the dog is protecting my PC's Whose a good boy then.
