5 out of 5 stars Simple to install and works well.   August 26, 2009

Just one thing to remember when installing ANY Internet security software, Make sure you remove any trace of your old anti virus or Internet security software BEFORE installing new software, clean-up tools are normally available for download from software manufactures. If you don't do this than you may experience problems when installing new security software.

Right onto Kaspersky Internet Security 2010, this software installs fairly quickly without any niggles and comes with a 3 user 1 year license.

Once installed Kaspersky updates itself, this can take some time on first install, but is fine after that, updates are then quick and non intrusive and very regular.

Kaspersky sits in the background constantly monitoring activity, it alerts you if something is wrong ,a malicious program is trying to run or an attack attempt has taken place, it does not seem to slow my PC down whilst in this mode but during full scan operation it can have an effect on resources.

I have used Kaspery Internenet Security 2009 previously and the 2010 version seems to be better, it has some new features such a URL monitoring and virtual keyboarard, with this feature you use an on screen keyboard for typing in(using mouse) sensitive passwords(credit card numbers, bank passwords ETC) whilst on the internet, it stops keyloggers being used so passwords and card numbers cannot be stolen.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 is a comprehensive package providing that all essential protection that we all need if venturing online or just using E-mail, it's easy to set up and don't seem interfear with system resources like alot of other security.

This program works very well and comes highly recommeded.

3 out of 5 stars good value, capable product   September 11, 2009

I am a new user of Kaspersky having previously used McAfee for a
number of years. I have been having a problem with Trojans pulling up
attack sites from google search results, and some system
resource issues as McAfee updates itself and installs updates on a
daily basis which prompted a change.

Kasperksy has a reputation for running lighter in the background, and
I think that is generally true compared to Norton, McAfee et al but as
others have noted the initial installation and update can be a lengthy
business, and a full scan is an overnight job on my machine. You
absolutely have to remove any other anti virus software before
installing (not unique to Kaspersky). The anti spam I find
problematic in outlook express, but my ISP seems to be doing a
reasonable job anyway so I turned it off.

Since installing I don't seem to have picked up anything nasty so I am
hoping that this is going to be better than McAfee - but a little
early yet to declare a winner. For a one year licence for 3 machines,
Kaspersky seems to offer reasonable value for money. You can tweak it
quite a bit to meet your preferences or leave it to get on with it
once you have got through the installation (which is a bit hands on).
Overall this is a credible package, at a reasonable price.

5 out of 5 stars Kaspersky - just the best   August 25, 2009

I've been serious about security for many years and had the standard PC supplier provided Norton, which was fine until the PC got a couple of years old. Norton hogged resources, I then went on a quest (I now look after 5 pc's between home, office and kid's University) to find the right protection. I've tried several and either they hogged resources or there were too many pop up 'do you want to allow this' messages, or they blocked the wrong things, or in one instance, let a virus in.

This is the 3rd year I've bought Kaspersky. It's easy to use and configure, it updates regularly and it doesn't take any looking after. And for £20 a year for 3 pc's. Incredible value

5 out of 5 stars STILL THE BEST   August 25, 2009

I have been using Kaspersky Internet Security since 2007 and now with the release of the 2010 edition I have no reason to change.
The three licences are value for money allowing you to secure 3 computers. If you want to move the licence to another computer it is simplicity in itself. It uninstals easily and does not leave crap ware or registry problems behind (unlike other programs).

First and foremost, unlike other more bloated security suites this program has very little impact on system resources or memory. You will not experience slow downs even when the auto update is running.

This new incarnation has a couple of nifty tricks up its sleeve. It now uses colour coding to warn you of known unsafe websites and links. It enables you to run untrusted or uncertified applications in a Safe Run Mode which isolates the program until you are satisfied it is ok to use. It now has a Game Mode which allows you to play online and suspends certain areas so it will not slow your connection or game down. It will check your e-mails and let you preview them to delete as necessary before you download them to your e-mail client and it is compatible with Outlook, Windows Mail and Thunderbird.

It gives automatic and extremely regular updates to it malware database, everytime you log on it will check.
One value for money item is that if Kaspersky brings out an updated version of the program, such as 2009 to 2010 and it is still within your license period you are able to automatically upgrade to the new version. You will not have to buy a new version everytime there is an update (unlike some others).
There is also free support, not that you will need it.

In the four years that I have been using Kaspersky I have not had any downtime due to virus or malware infection.
It has everything you need: anti-virus, e-mail protection, file and data protecction, web scanning firewall and even a virtual key board to thwart keloggers. It will give you a seccure wireless connection in public places.

Whilst you can cobble together a few free programs to get a resemblance of a security system you will get what you pay for.
Kaspersky is top dog at this time, there is nothing the Russians don't know about internet security and they licence their technology to a large number of other security providers.
This product is highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars All you need and W7 ready - a winner.   August 23, 2009

Must first hold my hands up and say we've been using Kaspersky Internet Protection in earlier guises across 5 PCs (PCs 1-4 years old) in the extended family for the last 2 years because of its good ratings in the computer press and after having one machine being badly affected by a virus let through by a so called internet security package from a competitor.

All comments based on Vista machines of average ability for use by normal family members with average computer skills.

Firstly, I have loaded this as a 'clean install' on a machine being reformatted and also as replacements for the 2009 version. No problems with either and it is very easy to uninstall 2009 as Kaspersky suggest before loading the new one so no fears there for anyone.Instructions much clearer on this one such that my father in law actually did it himself..this was a major first and caused Cheshire Cat to lie down in a darkened room to recover from the shock!

Before loading the full application,it immediately checked online and suggested a more up to date version of the protection suite which I simply had to agree to being downloaded following which it performed updates on the databases. After asking for the activation code that comes on the instruction leaflet, it was fully up and running within 30 mins on my painfully slow broadband connection. 10 Mins on my in-laws better line!

The latest version has IMPO improved parental control and has the likes of child or teenager settings which have been gratefully employed. The interface looks much neater and easier to understand if you really need to get into it (which most people, including myself, generally won't need to other than for 'parental control') and if you have trouble sleeping or are interested, there is a pdf included with the full manual with all the techy info you could ever want.

You don't need to worry about your database being out of date, Kaspersky will update it 'quietly' in the background as an automatic function.

I will be upgrading to Windows 7 in October and, as with earlier Kaspersky products, am expecting that the software will be automatically updated.

One word of warning, it is only suitable for use with Windows operating systems from and including XP with Service Pack 2 plus all hot fixes. Vista is of course fine.

The 2010 version is working faultlessly on our 5 machines, is not having any impact on performance and has already caught its first nasty on my niece's computer.

So, on the basis of some weeks feedback from the extended family who have exposed it to everything that 7-81 year olds can throw at it, full marks for ease of use, discretely working in the background, not affecting the performance of our PCs and. most importantly, doing its job in protecting the computers and the information stored thereon and assisting in the protection of the more vulnerable family members.

Great value at Amazon's price and can recommend it without hesitation.

Final point, usually cheaper buying a new version rather than renewing your licence!

UPDATE 25/10 - Working fine with Windows 7!
