Very impressive product September 2, 2008 chris (london, UK) 28 out of 28 found this review helpful
I was a little sceptical about this product. I first tried speech recognition software about five years ago, it wasn't terribly impressed by the speed or accuracy of the particular product that I used. However, I've been absolutely blown away by Dragon version 10. I installed the Standard version on my XP machine about one hour ago and, after running through some very simple training exercises, I have been able to dictate entire paragraphs of text with virtually no errors. In fact, I have just been able to dictate this entire review in significantly less time than it would have taken me to type it by hand (and I consider myself a reasonably proficient typist). Overall, I am delighted with my purchase, and I wholeheartedly recommend Dragon version 10.
Very pleased, it even works within World of Warcraft August 21, 2008 AndysBest 1` (West Yorkshire) 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
I bought this version in helping me with certain issues I have as regards typing and other things as I have disabilities which is the main reason for my purchase, in fact I am writing this review with this software. I also found to my surprise that I can use it while I am playing world of Warcraft as it started a game for me and I was able to use in game chat while playing the game. So in retrospect this version actually does more than what it's capable of &what it specifications says it can do. So all in all this has been a very good purchase so much it has given me more freedom and flexibility than the previous version did. So even buying the standard version you get more than what you think in what it controls as far as applications, games etc. I don't think, you'll find better software out there that can do as much as this software for the price. I received this software 12:00 today and as you can see how easily and quickly it is adapted to my voice.
It works August 24, 2008 Geoff Anderson (Dollar, Scotland) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I was using this effectively within 1 hour of installation by the second day I was creating 600 word documents quickly and with few errors which were easily corrected. Voice Recognition Software now works. I will never be without it now! I will buy a more comfortable headset with noise cancelling - the included set works fine but was too tight for my head.
I am amazed, it's absolutely brilliant!! September 27, 2008 R. Zappone (London) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
This product came through today, and here I am typing this review out with, I can't believe it I've suffered with dyslexia all my life and this feels like I have just been released into a whole new world, if like me you've always been afraid to type a review, then fear no more. Get it, try it and don't worry about the bad reviews, you want be disappointed.
Heads up re microphone September 10, 2008 nutella the hun (brighton,) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
My experience is of 9.0, so I didn't want to include a star rating. But it IS worth telling people that if they're planning to use DNS on a laptop they're likely to run into problems that make it unusable unless they also buy a USB digital headset mike. Using the analogue mike that comes in the box means the signal can get hopelessly corrupted by onboard system noise by the time DNS gets to work with it, reducing recognition to virtually nil. Frankly, Dragon would do themselves a favour by flagging this up and marketing a separate laptop edition with a bundled USB headset. As it was I went through no end of trouble figuring this out and fixing it for myself. By the way, I use a Plantronics DSP 400, which is a bit poorly designed, but solved all the problems and turned DNS 9 into the imperfect but very useful bit of kit I'd hoped it would be when I bought it.
