Works For Me January 6, 2008 Graham R. Simpson (Abingdon, England) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
Over the Christmas period I decided, once again, to try and convert my old VHS tapes to CD or DVD. Again I was beset with many problems, mostly getting the audio to sync correctly with the picture. I decided to look on Amazon to see what was available to improve on the software that I had had provided with my TV card and DVD writer. I saw this program and downloaded the trial version, despite my misgivings with the poor reviews here. After one or two installation hiccups, which were resolved by the FAQs on Corel's website, I was up and running. And, even without a manual or help file, I had succesfully produced a video CD within the hour. Next day, with no problems, I had a full length DVD. So, as it is cheaper to buy the full retail version here than to register online I shall be putting in an order. To sum up, really easy to use and very stable.
Constant crashing December 28, 2007 Dr. S. M. Holmes (North Yorkshire, England) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
I trawled all the reviews of video editing to find the least hateful most stable package to edit MP4 clips from my Sanyo Xacti cameracorder as Windows movie maker cannot handle these clips, I've just got a new laptop to handle 3D CT images (for work) and so had a specially built Dell laptop with a very high spec video card (not usually seen in laptops), so thought great can now get a decent video editing package. This seemed to fit the bill, the interface looks good and seems simple to use but the software shuts down 9 times out of ten when playing my MP4 clips, so it's been returned to amazon and I will have to start the hunt again for stable software. I've had to give it one star but if you can get it to work it looks like simple software to use.
Crashing is no problem January 10, 2008 Graham Jennings (Worcestershire, UK) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I have been editing video using Pinnacle software for a fair few years now, but recently decided it was time to upgrade my video editing software. As Pinnacle does not have native support for Dolby Digital Sound I thought I would try and find a package that did as I was fed up with the time it took converting audio to a format supported by Pinnacle. While looking around I discovered VideoStudio, but not liking change (or spending money) I decided to download the trial software from Corel's web site. I am so glad I did as I no longer have to spend hours converting audio. My editing speed has increased 10 time over. Okay, the programme has crashed on me, but from experience with Pinnacle I thought I'd re-write the unedited film through VideoStudio (choose to export the video mpeg 'same as first video clip' from the share/create video file option after dragging it to your editing timeline window) to a new file name. After doing that you should be able to edit the re-written film with no further problems. Just for information I use a laptop with 64Mb on board graphics, 512Mb Ram, a Pentium4 2.66 Ghz processor, WinXP Home SP2 and a 500Gb USB2 Hard Disk (for storage of original, and edited film). Not the meatiest machine, but it does the job fine. I have now bought the full package here, and am eagerly awaiting it's arrival (although I did use supersaver post - as I said I don't like spending money).
Crashed out January 1, 2008 Daddy Stu (UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Luckily for me I only used the trial version of this paticular upgrade, but found constant issues with crashing. The actual editing is simple enough, plenty to make good dvd's from, versatile and easy to use. Problems seem to occur though when attempting to burn the dvd which is quite painful after doing all the work!! Up to yet I'v only got as far as the dvd menu making - at this point I get the pop-up telling me it's encountered a problem and needs to close! I find this desperately frustrating as for 2 years now I'v used VS9 to tremendous effect, even better than my attempts with VS10plus to be fair! The software's cheap enough to try, and I'm not 100% sure the trial version is the full program, but how many times do you want to spend 40 on software to find it don't want to finish its' job? The 2 stars I'v given it is purely for its' pre-burn stage as this is amazingly simple.
Minor Problems but Great Package March 27, 2008 Mr. David Quinn (Durham, UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Having read the reviews regarding crashing I was a little worried about this software, but, it works like a dream. I've always used Pinnacle Studio in the past but have been dissapointed by the speeds at which it could handle AVCHD. Ulead is miles better and the end rendering is a good deal quicker too. Ive output to file, DVD and BD so far without any issues on my main PC. I did have a crash on my other PC which is identical except its graphics card. Main PC runs a pair of Nvidia 8600GTS' wheras the other PC has an older ATI card in it. Seems to be a video memory related issue and ive ordered a replacement for that card already. Great Software!
