The Music Lives On Now The Mines Have Gone
If you only purchase one colliery brass band album, this should be the one
I have played this repeatedly since it arrived today
It is absolutely brilliant and a sheer joy to listen to
Brass Bands Live ON! April 9, 2010 Mr. R. Thorp (Scotland) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Not being a big brass band person I can't get over enthusiastic about this kind of music, but I have enjoyed this CD and some tracks will be played regular as I think the arrangements are brilliant. I have a varied taste in music and along with being brought up in a mining community kinda encouraged me to purchase this CD and having heard it, without regret. Amazon as usual were good on price and delivery.
The Best of the Colliery Bands April 9, 2010 R. G. Staley (U.K.) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is an excellent CD and well worth the money. The Bands featured on this disc are all top quality and each has chosen good numbers to play. I particularly like Concierto de Aranjuez played by Betteshanger Brass Band, but all have interesting and in most cases exciting arrangements.
Point of Ayr March 9, 2010 K. Howard 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
I play with Point Of Ayr (3rd on the CD) and I am proud to be a part of it! Fantastic CD and I hope it's enjoyed by all!
Golden Music June 6, 2010 Andrew Glen This is a superb CD and is a first step to ensuring this great sound never ends
