Nice little Vacuum August 11, 2006 K. Went (England) 25 out of 32 found this review helpful
I like my Powerlite, because it is small, easy to move about and is very good value for money. I'm very allergic to pollen, dust, pet hair, polish - pretty much anything, so I like to use the vacuum to do my dusting too, and it hasn't caused me to sneeze or complain, so that can't be bad. It also has a variable power slider - so you can be more delicate with it when you aren't cleaning floors. I wouldn't recommend this cleaner for people with large houses to clean, nor ones with deep-pile carpets. I have had a little trouble finding replacement bags for it, but it comes with a sturdy re-useable one, so I don't see it as a big issue.
Brilliant little vacuum cleaner! June 21, 2007 Mrs. J. G. Scott (UK) 20 out of 20 found this review helpful
Having succumbed to all the hype and bought an expensive cleaner I eventually threw it away in disgust. I then bought the Electrolux Powerlite on the recommendation of a professional cleaning lady who said it was very cheap, very light and brilliant at picking up dog hairs. I couldn't believe how good it is at both hard and carpeted surfaces and my golden retriever hairs are easily picked up off the rug which my previous cleaner, the 'Animal' model, completely failed to do. The only slight problem is that the extension tubes tend to pull off as the suction is so powerful, I wish they had a bayonet type fitting rather than pull on. However, the suction can be reduced. I cannot recommend it more highly - bad backs and dirty floors are a thing of the past and it is a pleasure to use and at a fraction of the cost of most of the others. It's a real 'best buy'!
Good little machine November 5, 2006 Steve (Bristol, UK) 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
Does the job nicely. Filters are good and easy to replace. Like many of these machines, the noise is a danger to your hearing, and would recommend some sort of ear protection. I think the other reviewer possibly made a mistake with the star rating - giving it 1 when she meant 5, so I'd better give it a 5 to try and make up for this.
Wonderful! June 20, 2007 Mrs. C. Reeves (Essex) 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
Most of the ground floor of my house has laminate flooring and vinyl in the kitchen. Every day I have to get down on my hands and knees to sweep up the crumbs and dust from the floor. I have a bagless upright but it is too cumbersome to bring out everyday to vacuum. I wanted something that was easy to use and so I didn't have to bend down to clean. I did my research and this was the lightest one I could find and a fairly reasonable price. I was a little put off after reading the review about the noise level but I went ahead anyway, and I wasn't disappointed. The lowest setting of the watts isn't too loud at all and is adequate for wooden floors. Even the highest setting isn't as loud as my upright which my 2 year old son will hide in his room when I use it. I found this very easy to use and managed to clean all of the floors in 10 minutes. It also worked very well on carpets, even at the low setting. We do have looped pile carpets so I don't know how it would work on deep piles. Its compact size means I can store it in a wardrobe when not in use. I bought this just to vacuum my wooden floors, so hopefully I won't have to empty the small bag too often.
great for small flats January 23, 2008 P. Zakowiecki (London) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
this little baby does exactly what it's meant to do - no thrills though; the hoover is small, simple, rather ugly and VERY loud, but it's REALLY powerful (i never use it at more than a halfway power setting) and runs very smoothly. i've just got it so i can't really tell how reliable it is, but i think that electrolux is a brand worth trusting. plus it seems to be rather well-built; a minor problem is the power cord - it's around 10 ft at most, so it might be annoying for people living in larger places; nevertheless it's great value for money - highly recommended
