A normal grill is much better September 6, 2004 J. Clark (London England) 63 out of 122 found this review helpful
The fact I went and bought one of these things must be a testament to the power if clever marketing. These oversized sandwich toasters offer absolutely no advantage over a bog standard grill on a cooker which also drains the excess grease from meat products by virtue of a standard wire mesh. The Foreman grill alternatively relies upon a sloped teflon coated grill to make the grease run towards a decidedly flimsy and ultra cheap long boat shaped plastic tray which is slid loosely under the bottom end of the grooved sloap. Alarmingly given the health and safety implications of having an unsecured light weight plastic tray full of hot greasy oil sitting around unsecured like an accident waiting to happen this tray comes with no form of clip to stop children or clumsy adults pets etc from tipping it over themselves (i wonder how many folks have scolded themselves with this singularly carelesly designed device)Also these very shallow trays are just about deep enough to barely contain the oil from a single packet of sausages before becoming worryingly full.
Because the Foreman grill relies on a pronounced slope to drain the oil it is qiute a challenge to keep sausages or other hot greasy meat products from rolling or sliding off onto the counter or floor, which is hardly an ideal situation hygene or health and safety wise.
My advice is dont waste your money that old fashioned grill on your cooker is a much better safer and easier way of cooking and just as healthy.
Regards.

Excellent grilled food - FAST! June 12, 2005 L. Anastasiou 57 out of 59 found this review helpful
I was initially reluctant to buy this grill, because of the cost. However, it was honestly one of the best purchases I've made in a long time! This grill gets 5-stars from me for various reasons: - the ease of use, with the self timer shutting it off when food is cooked and really easy (2mins) cleaning. - The perfection with which it cooks my food - be it grilled steaks and pork chops, fish, saussages for bfast, toasted sandwiches with melted cheese (Mmmmmm..), grilled vegetables!! you name it, it cooks it. Just defrost the meat, sprinkle some spices on it, put it in George and 5mins later - voila! your meal is ready! - And best of all, it's really fast! No more than 5-6 mins (defrosted) for any type of meat. I honestly have used this grill for EVERY SINGLE DAY since I bought it 2 months ago, sometimes 3 times a day (bfast, lunch, dinner). It's really easy to make tasty food fast, and my friends all enjoy coming over for dinner all of a sudden! ;-) No hesitation! BUY IT! I'm actually considering buying one for my parents as a gift...
Wonderful & So Easy To Use! March 26, 2004 David Cranson (Hereford, UK) 44 out of 48 found this review helpful
It's not often that I get excited about kitchen appliances, but this one really is the business. We grill most stuff on here, pork, chicken, beef, bacon, sausages etc etc etc . It is so good, and watching all the fat and gunk run into the tray is so satisfying. We used to eat all that fat!It cooks to perfection, is very easy to use and to clean and is very much recommended for families of all sizes. We have a grill on the cooker, but don't use it much now we have the George Foreman. If you don't have one, then your life is ot complete(!)
Heavyweight knockout!! July 8, 2003 42 out of 45 found this review helpful
ROUND 1 This grill is the business. It gives good results cooking burgers, chops, fish and all that sort of thing. But George comes into his owm and really packs a punch when he cooks you up a good ciabatta panini (mozzarella, chicken, salami, tabasco, mayonnaise, mmmm!) ROUND 1 to GEORGE ROUND 2 To say that George will change your life is perhaps a little extreme, but I used it pretty much every day for the first couple of months after purchase, and I can definitely recommend its ease of use and versatility. George knocks down any rival, cooking everything from calzone to caramelised bananas. ROUND 2 safely in the bag. ROUND 3 Despite all this, I can only give it 4*. This is because its tilted cooking surface, which aims to remove the fat, does in fact do little more than dispose of the beautiful juices from your steak or the marinade from whatever you are cooking, when you really want these flavours to remain with the meat. Furthermore, the non-stick surface means that you don't really get the same sort of defined grill lines as you would on a normal grill or barbecue. Ouch!GEORGE FOREMAN wins the fight two rounds to one, and is crowned heavywight champion of the kitchen.
Healthier food thanks to George May 19, 2003 mohammed Patel (Batley, West Yorkshire (England)) 41 out of 42 found this review helpful
This is a grilling machine that will produce healthier food to eat because when the food is cooked the fat ends in the drip tray thanks to the design of the cooking plates. You will get a nice barbeque grilled taste. The double non-stick coated grill means it cooks food both sides simultaneously. You can grill burgers, chicken, fish, vegetables, sausages and steak. You open the lid and placed the chicken breasts on the plate. The food is ready to eat after ten mins. Depending how well you want it cooked, times may vary from 8 to 12 mins. Last night I used sweet corn and it tasted delicious. This machine can be used as a bun warmer. The grill is not very heavy. When using the grill make sure you do not touch the hot plates with your hand, it will be very hot. You are supplied with a couple of plastic items to help you move food from grill plates. Cleaning is easy, a couple of wipes with a soft damp sponge soon clean off the worst of the fat. Do not forget empty the fat dip tray from the bottom. If you like barbeque food then this is the grill for you.
