Excellent Product, 2 minor flaws February 24, 2008 M. Walker (UK) 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
Our initiation with this tool came late into autumn. We hadn't been around when the leaves first fell and thus by the time we got to them they were plentyful and wet. The Ryobi had little problem sucking them up. It's powerful (albeit noisy) and comes with enough attachments to deal wonderfully with the sizeable chunk of dead foliage in our garden. Two minor complaints - the shoulder strap is a bit flimsy. It does the job, but when full of leaves it can be quite heavy. A better grade strap would be nice as well a clearer indication of where and how it's supposed to attach to the actual vac. Second the bag that collects the mulched leaves is a little light-weight. To be fair, we had little choice but to use it with wet leaves, which will have added to the weight inside the bag. Even so, the material the bag is made of does not feel particularly heavy duty. Which is a shame because it lets down the otherwise excellent product.

Bought one of these and it worked for one day before the motor blew up. Okay I have a large garden but it really did struggle at the slightest pile of leaves and before the day was out I had the burnt smell of death followed by one non functional leaf vac. Got a refund as it was less than two days old and went back to my old compost heap. If you have a small yard with a few little bits to pick up then this would probably do. However if you have a bit of work then forget it.
Not fit for purpose October 29, 2008 C. Moore (Devon) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Very disappointing, other than its a good blower. I have used the Ryobi RBV2400VP on four occasions to deal with dead leaves on patio and its performance gets worse each time with longer and longer delays because: The Shaft blocks when sucking leaves -this means dismantling shaft -time consuming and dirty but fairly easy. Motor keeps cutting out, often after reassembling the shaft, one then has to wait for it to come back on. It has a mind of its own! Lever that switches from blow to suck keeps sticking, when it does not even brute force will move it - this mean more dismantling, very difficult to clear and very time consuming. In 'suck' mode the bag sprays fine dirt on one's trousers and if the leaves are wet, bad luck you will quickly have a big wet patch on your trousers!
