Product Description Every garden with patches of long grass or undergrowth needs one of these. Require no petrol, create significantly less noise pollution than a strimmer and cope with dense undergrowth where strimmer cords break! Hardened and tempered high carbon steel blades. Beech handles. Steel shafts. 109cm shaft & 41cm blade.

Dissappointing August 5, 2008 Ant (North East UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this a month or so ago to use to cut down some bracken and thistles. I appreciate it is not a full size scythe, but all the same it was very dissappointing. The blade is very poor quality. Having used, with limited effect, for a couple of hours, the blade is already chipped and blunt. The blade is held on by two very small bolts which keep working loose. Had I have seen this in a shop, I'd have still considered buying it, but I wouldn't have paid much more than a tenner for it.
Flimsy blade August 14, 2008 J_Lambert_76 As the other reviewer stated, I would probably buy this if I saw it in a shop or on the market, but I'd expect to spend no more than 10-15 on it (despite the 5 year guarantee stated on the packaging). The blade is flimsy and develops kinks very easily after only a few minutes work. As with any tool of this kind it requires regular sharpening, But I didn't expect the blade to be unfinished upon delivery. Casting flash had to be removed before I could sharpen the blade. The blade does work loose easily but this is not really a problem, as you'll need to replace it soon! A shame as scythes are hard to find these days.
