Does what it says on the box!!! November 16, 2004 45 out of 51 found this review helpful
OK if like me you have looked through loads of clipper reviews and found them a bit mixed I think the reason is that on the cordless clippers people try to use them without charging them properly this would explain alot of the negatives i have read. I got the remington cordless/and corded use one with ceramic teeth, i didn't want to wait 16 hours for the initial full charge so i used it with the power cord and it was smooth and did the job without any trouble at all.
Does a good job January 10, 2007 Del Shole (UK) 23 out of 24 found this review helpful
I spent a good couple of hours going round in circles looking for a decent clipper. So many conflicting reviews to read and such a broad price range of competing products! In the end I went for this one.
Although this is one of the more expensive models, I figured that it has to be better than the really cheap and cheerful ones. The build quality certainly suggests that was the right move. It's a well made product, quite light, but with a strong plastic body that doesn't flex and buttons and connectors that click very positively.
The other reason I went for this one was that is uses the traditional changable combs for different "grades." I wasn't convinced by those models with clever length adjustment widgets and other such gimmicks. This has a set of combs that slip on and off the clipper body, just like the professional one my barber uses. Combs struck me as familiar, easy to use and reliable, plus you can take them off and use the bare clipper on "grade 0" to get the fluff off your neck.
My hair is fine and thinning (sigh!) and I'd normally have a grade 4 on top and a 2 at the sides and back from the barber shop. That's what I wanted from this clipper, and it does a fine job. Actually my girlfriend does the job for me, although I'd probably be able to manage myself if necessary. The cut is even, neat and tidy. First time round involved sometime of a learning curve, but it was still a perfectly respectable job. Second time round produced a cut that was as good as the barber.
I can't think of anything bad to say about this product, so I've given it 5 stars. Definitely recommended.
How a shaver should be! February 6, 2007 Rouchie (Yorkshire, UK) 14 out of 16 found this review helpful
I bought this product after having a rather tragic experience with the Philips QG3080. This hair clipper however oozes quality the minute you remove it from the box! Firstly the build quality is superb - nice and sturdy and a comfortable size (not too small). Second is the width of the shaving head; this is quite wide so for those opting for a minimal look (like me!), you can get the job done quickly! Lastly is how smooth the blades actually are - no chunks of hair (like the QG3080), just a nice, smooth cut. The clipper also comes with the usual accessories (instructions, guards, shoulder cloth etc). Also another impressive point is that the unit can be run from the battery/or from mains power, which is excellent and extremely useful (you don't have to charge it up before finishing your cut if the battery dies half-way through!). So if it's true about the blades not needing sharpening (and time will tell) then I can't imagine there's a better device for the money.
Looks good but is unreliable November 7, 2007 Mrs. R. S. Jolliffe ((IOW, UK)) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I purchased these clippers for my boyfriend after my brother recommended them. It looks great and comes with a very handy selection of combs etc. When it works it produces a great cut which is just as good as at the barbers (I cut his hair for him). Unfortunately I have had a lot of problems with it. Before use, I always fully charge the clippers. Sometimes it will work straight away and will continue to work; other times the clippers just wont cut- it just snags the hair and leaves a white residue (possibly from the ceramic blades). I then have to keep adjusting the blade height, blowing any trapped hairs out, changing the combs, turning on-off and usually eventually it works (after about 10 mins of snagging his hair, testing on his arm hair, having an argument about my technique) . At first I thought that slightly dampening the hair helped but that seems no longer the case. I've had it for about a year now and I would say I have this problem 90% of attempts. I'm off to buy an alternative as I just don't trust it- what happens if I get halfway through and it konks out for good??!!
weak cutting June 28, 2007 black feather (England) 4 out of 11 found this review helpful
I'm sad to say that these are the worst clippers I've ever had. They can't cut hair at all, I tried my own head and they literally had no effect, on my beard it gets stuck causing a bit of pain when you try to free it. I tested it on my brothers head and the same thing happened. We don't have thick hair or very fine either so I can't blame that.
The clippers are very nice to hold though and the accessories do look good but that's no use if it doesn't work!
