Best scales I've ever had February 1, 2004 90 out of 91 found this review helpful
Looks good, takes up next to no room, can use for both metric & imperial (& jump between if you want), can zero it (put your bowl on the scales, press zero, measure out first item, press zero, measure out second item ... you get the idea), battery lasts for ages, easy to wipe clean ... I think it's great!
Weighty Issue October 17, 2003 79 out of 83 found this review helpful
(...)I came across someone selling the Salter 1004 Electronic Kitchen Scale and I've never looked back! They are very neat in size and smart to look at. If, for example, you weigh an apple in ounces, then decide you want to know what that is in grams, you can find out at the touch of a button. Maybe I'm impressed at the novelty of being able to swap and change between the two, but they're accurate and easy to use. Dieters could find them useful I would think, as the smallest imperial unit they weigh in is an eighth of an ounce.
excellent - a cook's best friend August 3, 2005 60 out of 61 found this review helpful
A brilliant addition to my kitchen. I've had other scales but this is the best by far. I wanted a scale that would let me weigh large quantities of fruit for jam etc, as well as daily use for everyday cooking. This is the one! It is so easy to use, and very accurate. Just put your bowl, pan or whatever on the scale, reset the display and it reads in either metric or imperial quickly and easily. It is a neat design, takes up no space in storage and looks smart enough to leave out on the worktop ready for action. I love it, and would buy it as a gift with no hesitation.
No good for precision on small items February 18, 2006 47 out of 59 found this review helpful
Sadly, having read the great reviews of this item, was disappointed to realise that they're just not up to the job for weighing small amounts. Trying to weigh even 10g of herbs (hardly micro amounts) was hilarious. Put a spoonful of rosemary on the scales. Hmmm, 12 grammes. Remove half. Interesting, now 10 gramms. Remove a further quarter. Now 9 gr. Add the original amount back, now 15 gr. Can handle a gr or three out but not this. Also, depending on where I put the items on the plate, that also affected it - by as much as 200%. Slick and great for weighing 'big things', neat and tidy and cool, but when accuracy to the nearest few gr is important (albeit rare for most people) then invest in posher medical scales. No use for recipe-writing.
Very slinky July 9, 2004 MR J P JONES (London, England) 46 out of 53 found this review helpful
This is a great little design masterpiece - there is no compromise of functionality for style, both are top quality. If you want something to weigh your nosh which doesn't take up space and brings gasps of admiration from your visiting Mum, look no further.
