has been beeping for past hour and 10 minutes since initial battery installation. Does state on instructions that it may sound for 'several minutes' after installing battery. Just about to give up on it. Should have jnown better going for the cheapest.

A 1 star rating is too generous for this product. Lousy instructions and the thing keeps going off and I can only silence it by removing the battery. The 30 quid one I bought from Robert Dyas reassures me that a) it works b) I can test it at any time and c) if it goes off it is because there is a carbon monoxide problem and all this because of the comprehensive (original English) instructions. Cheap is not always the best.
