Twice the wash half the time March 1, 2006 MR P A WHITTAKER (TYLDESLEY, MANCHESTER United Kingdom) 131 out of 135 found this review helpful
We have just obtained the new washer having previously used the original 3 in 1 Vax what a difference, a lot easier to use and the pump means no more having to hold the vax up until the water starts running. The brushes make the removal of stains easier and the whole job of cleaning the carpets is less effort with a better result the pile can be seen again. The use of the tools is much easier to only having the one pipe and once again the pump goes into its own when doing the stairs. The only niggle was that the waste tank does not hold the full washing tank volume which means the waste tank needed to be emptied once it got 1/3rd full as the suction cut off devise operated. It is an excellent machine and well worth the money especially buying it from amazon, only draw back now is my wife wants to buy the Vax vacuum cleaner.
100% improvement on the older Orange models April 16, 2007 Sarah Keeling (Leics, UK) 53 out of 53 found this review helpful
I had the original orange Vax which I always loathed using. Way too many tubes and wires and always managed to spill water all over the place when filling or emptying it. As a dog owner, I really do need some way of cleaning carpets on a regular basis and thankfully the old orange version gave up the ghost last month! This upright version seemed to be the answer to all my prayers - and it very nearly is. After a little head scratching to build everything (it really wasn't that bad but I seemed to end up with some spare tubing! turned out this is for the upholstery hose . . .) I was ready to go. It's an absolute breeze to fill and empty this Vax which is a good job as my only gripe with it is that I had to refil it 7 times to finish my lounge carpet! OK, so I do have a larger than average lounge, but it is not exactly huge. However, it is so easy to fill and empty that it wasn't really a problem and even this small gripe is outweighed by the ease of use of the machine. It even fits nice and neatly under the stairs, rather than having to live in the garage with all of the extra appendages that were required for the old version. All in all, I'd recommend this product for anyone who wants to be able to quickly and easily give their carpets a spruce up. My carpets came up brighter than I'd ever seen them (we inherited the carpet when we bought the house!) and it did a great job of a rug that has never been cleaned before.

I had originally ordered a Bissell but that became a very, very long wait due to manufacturer problems so I opted for the Vax as my second choice. It still took a lot of waiting for Amazon to get this for me... delivery problems from Vax.. in fact I almost cancelled my order... but is was well worth the wait. It cleans everything it is designed to and cleans it well. It leaves very little water behind and so things dry very quickly. The bag within a bag, clean and dirty water, make this a very easy product to use and being upright save masses of backache and sore arms. All in all great cleaner that I am happy to recommend.... (and I am not easily pleased I assure you)
not impressed.. June 18, 2006 S. Layton (England) 39 out of 42 found this review helpful
. In a nutshell this is not powerful enough for moderate household carpet cleaning and the brushbar is very flimsy. I specifically bought this model for the 'rotating brushbar' which turned out to be a flimsy cheaply made thing - there are more bristles on my toothbrush than on this brushbar. And I bought it for the stair/upholstery attachment = this is ok but not a great design. It does clean my carpet lightly, however I've washed my living room carpet night after night on 10 separate occasions and the water is still coming out dirty!! - and my carpet is quite new and there it is only lightly used and we don't wear shoes indoors. If you are a family don't buy this model it won't do the job! And also repeatedly washing the carpet is a nuisance as you have to wait hours for it to dry and your room is in upheaval for days if you can't wash it efficiently in one go. The vax AAA shampoo solution is a very weak shampoo and just not strong enough to clean carpets properly and it is hard to find at a cheap price. And please note using any other brand of carpet shampoo cleaner will void your warranty! Nice touch to vax there! I think it's also overpriced for the design and quality of it. It's the same quality as a 40 upright hoover, except obviously it dispenses and sucks up water instead of dust and bits. My advice is go for the best specification possible in the first place or you will end up frustrated and upgrading to a better model if you buy this anyway. The cleaner is also very loud I would recommend buying yourself some earplugs to put in when using it.
Works for me February 28, 2007 Courtney Fish 36 out of 36 found this review helpful
I've used the old vax shampooer for 20yrs and it packed up recently. Very pleased with its replacement. Very easy to use, cleaned my mum in laws house apart from bedrooms in an afternoon. No pressure required, unlike the old one, so easy for any one to use. Just vary the speed of travel to suit the level of soiling until the shampoo being sucked up is clean. Easy and stable to use on stairs, the pumped shampoo flow means it will work up or down hill. The small tank cuts down on weight but I was satisfied with the amount of cleaning done per refill/empty. The noise level is quite high (a whistling noise), about the same as my garden leaf blower. I wore ear defenders as I do with any power tools.
